1曲目から予想を裏切るその弛緩したムードと包容力すら感じさせる歌声に続けざまに肩透かしを喰らい、呆気に取られているところをそのまま温かいサウンドと歌によってグッと引き込まれてしまった。
アルバムの大半はそういったアコースティックでフォーキーな曲で占められており、ブラスがソウルフルな味わいを加える5や、カラフルなサウンドの6などもあるものの、いずれも開放的でピースフルなムードで統一されている。言うまでもなく美しく繊細なenoらしいサウンドと、包容力すら感じさせるbyrneの歌声が実に気持ちよい。

一方で、2人の名前から連想される実験的でエキセントリックなテイストは、3や8あたりに顕著なのだが、美しいピアノの響きとヒップかつアーシーなグルーヴの対比が刺激的な3も、いかにもbyrneらしいユニークな表現力が聴かれる8にしても、やはり印象としてはポップにまとまっているように感じられる。それは、多彩なギターや生ドラムなどが効果的に用いられているからに違いなく、ライト・タッチのファンク7やグルーヴィーな10といったダンサブルな曲もポップにスタイリッシュに際立っている。

ボーカルとサウンドの有機的な親和具合、そしてそこから放たれる温かくピースフルなムードからすると、このアルバムがひとつのスタジオで生まれたのではなく、音源のやり取りという実に現代的な分業制がとられたということが俄かには信じがたいのだが、それはお互いが必要なものを明確に認識したうえで、顔を付き合わせるまでも無くそれこそスピリチュアルなレベルで交流できていたからではないかと思えるほど、優しく温かく心に響く作品である。

内容は、カントリー、ゴスペル、ソウルなどを取り入れたオルタナティヴ・ロックで、イーノのアンビエントよりもバーンの最近の大人指向のロックの延長にある音楽です。
日本盤について言うと、ボーナストラックは10のリミックスで、対訳がついています。でも、輸入盤のブックレットにも歌詞は印刷されているようですから、それらは大した違いではないでしょう。それよりも、大きな違いは、日本盤は、HQCD仕様だということにあります。

バーンとイーノといえば、20数年前は神様のようなすごい人たちとして
なけなしの小遣いはたいて作品をかいあさり（たかった）。

実際にはレコードは高いのでorz

貧乏学生としては貸しレコで我慢しながら、とにかくたいそう憧れた
アーティストな訳です。

20数年ぶりという。ブッシュオブゴースツとリメインインライトを
境にいつしか離れていった二人。

イーノはU2があったけど、バーン先生がブラジル方面へ走り去っても、
なんだかついて行く熱気が失せて四半世紀。

自分もメタボなおっさんになったけど、こういうカタチで帰ってきてくれて、
何ともうれしい年の瀬であった。

ちなみに僕は初回特典のカレンダーをゲットした。

最後のページにいるお二人は、もうは白髪の、いい感じのおっさん。
ずいぶんたったもんですねぇ、あれから。

もう、前衛じゃないっす。

ゆとりのおっさんです。発売前からサイトでhomeを聴いたけれど、
何ともそういうもんだろうな、つー感じの、良かった良かった的サウンド。

この前のイーノ自身によるジャストアナザーデイが、久々のヴォーカルものだったにも関わらず、どこか自信なげで、う〜ん、イーノさんもっと元気出して！

って感じだったフラストレーションを見事にぬぐってくれる作品に仕上がっています。ライナーにもそんなようないきさつが語ってありますが、

なんというか、やっぱりイーノはバーンのこと大好きなんでしょうな。
