1での評価はあまり高くないのだが、個人的な好みで2は私好み。
ピアノを多用しているのも嬉しい。1のcivil warは素晴らしい。映画のワンシーンから切り取った「お前らとは理解し合えない」という台詞から始まり曲の構成が意外な展開を見せて6分以上の大作を一気に聴かせてくれる。
５のget in the ringもギターソロの恰好良さと歌詞の挑発的な内容があいまって印象的だ。
10　11　12の流れも最高。ダフがジョニーサンダースに捧げた10に続きギターキッズを困らせるであろうギターテクが要求される11そして豪快なドラムソロから始まる12へとこれぞロックアルバムという出来栄え。
とにかく一曲が長すぎるという欠点はあるものの、味わい深くみょうちくりんな歌詞のロックがばら撒かれている。これを聴いて彼らのパンクアルバムを聴けば混乱すること間違いなし。

自分は９０年代の最高傑作だと思ってるが、このアルバムは意外と評価されてない。ミュージックマガジンの特集の９０年代ベスト１００にも入らなかった。

忘れもしない１９９１年の発売延期騒動（６月から９月へ延期）。この時期ＮＯ．１バンドの名を欲しいままにしていたガンズ。ドラマーの交代とキーボードも大幅に導入。とにかく１と２で全３０曲トータル１５０分。極的な密度に圧倒され４年間くらい常に聴きまくっていた。

本作はカントリー色の強い（７）「BREAKDOWN」や名バラード（１３）「DON'T CRY」など少し抑え気味の曲が入っていて１以上にバラエティに富んでいる。特に９分に及ぶ見事な曲展開を広げる（１１)「ESTRANGED」は大好きな曲で、シングルカットはされなかったがビデオクリップは製作されて、１の「NOVEMBER RAIN」より金がかかってそうな凝ったＰＶだった。

（１２）「YOU COULD BE MINE」はご存知「ターミネーター２」の主題歌。このアルバムの前奏曲とも言える先行シングルだった。なぜか全米シングルチャートでベスト１０入りはしなかった。

歌詞の面での神経を揺さぶる程の切れ味の良さも特筆すべきだろう。アクセル・ローズの怒りと葛藤が混然一体となって聴く者を打ちのめす。

こういう様々な色を持ったバンドはガンズ以降出てきてない。偉大な足跡を残した。

GN'Rの巷間を騒がせた哀愁のII｡PATIENCE系のバラード調が聞きたいならこちらがオススメ。隠れた名曲BREAKDOWNは必聴。ESTRANGED、YESTERDAYS、YOU　COULD　BE　MINE、CIVIL　WARなどシングルカット曲多数。ハズレのない作品。
