「中身が馬鹿すぎるからこそ、外見は大真面目に。」

「溝ノ口太陽族」は、メロディに限って言えば今時珍しく気合の入った熱い歌謡曲系アニソンである。
だが、歌詞とアニメの中身はとてつもなく馬鹿馬鹿しく、そして現実的・小市民的である。

考えても見てほしい。
「六畳一間」「頑固でしつこい油汚れ」などというヒーローとは無縁の生活観丸出しな歌詞たちが、
よりにもよって１番に堂々と並んでいるアニメヒーローソングがこの世にあっただろうか。
ふざけた歌詞を大真面目に歌うことで、ただでさえ面白かったものがギャップにより更に面白さが倍増する。
アニメのコンセプトとこれほどまでに一致した主題歌は、ここ数年見られなかったものだ。
もはや「湯沸かし器の温度設定を『熱湯』のままにしてお湯を出してしまった」レベルの熱さである。

これを書いている時点ではまだ第１話しか放送されていないが、既にCD予約は済ませた。
家に届くのが今から楽しみでならない。

「天体」と「ヘンタイ」のダブルミーニング。
「かよ子LOVE」。
だけど結局は「無駄に格好いい」歌詞。

「これぞmanzo」の熱血歌謡。
manzo楽曲にしては珍しく弾きまくるギターソロ（本人）。

そして。
manzo楽曲（「社歌2007」「青春として」「フルスロットル」等は勿論、「ワンダーモモーイ」
「Mail Me (ver.2.0)」ら桃井はるこ曲の編曲含む）恒例の「弾きまくる５弦ベース（勿論本人）」。

是非、１分半のOPで満足することなく、CDを手にして欲しい。
「遊び心に溢れたオールインワンスーパー音楽職人」manzoの真骨頂があなたにもわかるはず！

アニメソングという前提、良い意味でのナンセンスな歌詞を外して捉えた場合でも、楽曲的にかなり完成度が高い作品だと思います。アニソン的には、80〜90年代アニメを観ていた人たちには王道的かつ強い郷愁感と共感を呼び起こすものでしょう。

ノスタルジックな出だしに、無駄を排除したコード進行とわかりやすいメロディラインをサポートする秀逸なオケで掴みはバッチリ。
ちょっとヒネりの効いたメロディのみ変拍子的な演出で「おっ？」と思わせ、瞬間的な意外性を演出した後になだれ込んでいく先の、ポップなハードロックとしては王道とも言えるベースラインの下降グリスに載せたサビは、たとえば89年リリースのZIGGYによる「GLORIA」や、88年放映の「超音戦士ボーグマン」の主題歌である、EARTHSHAKERによる「DON'T LOOK BACK」のそれを彷彿とさせる、安定感のある熱いメロディを直球勝負で聴き手に放っていると言えるでしょう。

特にサビの部分の曲調について誤解を恐れずに一言で言うなら「陳腐」なわけですが、だからこそ歌い手の表現力と歌詞とオケの作り込み、すべての要素のバランスが極めて重要になってくると考えられます。もしこの曲をいわゆるビジュアル系バンドが歌い、恋愛系の歌詞であったらどうだったろうかと想像してみれば、一見(聴)するとシンプルかつパワフルでストレートに響いてくるこの曲が、歌詞を含め如何に繊細な作り込みとバランス調整の下に成り立っているかが解りやすいのではないでしょうか。

何より興味深く、また楽しみであるのは「ニコニコ動画」バージョンのOPに添えられる、字幕職人による「多国籍歌詞字幕」と言えるでしょう。毎週、様々な言語による歌詞字幕が付けられ視聴者を楽しませていますが、最近ではこれまでの国際言語系字幕に加え、ギャル語携帯系字幕や表意系独自字幕なども見られるようになり、新たな境地へと突入しつつあるようです。

所謂売れ線な歌手やアーティストによる「普通」の楽曲を、主題歌に据えることが是となって久しい感のあるアニメの主題歌ですが、こうした王道復古の大号令というのも悪くないと思います。
主題歌に惚れ衝動的に思わずポチる、という経験を久々にさせてもらった期待の作品。発売が今から楽しみでなりません。
