チャイナ・レコードからの3枚のアルバムを経ていったんは解体したアート・オブ・ノイズが、ZTTに舞い戻って新生アート・オブ・ノイズとして1999年に『ドビュッシーの誘惑』をリリースした再結成メンバー、アン・ダドリー、トレヴァー・ホーン、ポール・モーリー、そしてロル・クレーム(元10CC/ゴドレイ&クレーム)による1999年シカゴのコーチェラ・フェスティバルと2000年ロンドンのシェファーズ・ブッシュ・エンパイアでのライヴ・パフォーマンス音源を元に、スタジオ収録された演奏を加えてリミックス、アレンジ、再構成されたアルバム。同じく発売されたライヴ映像DVD『イントゥー・ビジョン』で見ることの出来るライヴの雰囲気を残しながらも“聴く快楽のために”仕上げられた完成度の高いリスニング作品。アート・オブ・ノイズ最後のアルバムにして唯一のライブ盤。海外ではSACDのフォーマットでリリースされていた作品を、日本のみDVD5.1サラウンド+CDの2枚組で発売!

アーティストについて

実験的手法で「騒音の芸術」を生みだした革新的グループ 本来裏方の録音エンジニアやスタジオ・ミュージシャンといったひとたちが、当時最新鋭の技術であった“サンプリング”を駆使して、車のエンジン音や物を叩く音など身のまわりのノイズを再構築することで音楽に仕立て上げ「騒音の芸術」を生みだした革新的グループ。83年のデビュー当時はZTTのボスであり数々のヒットを生んだ名プロデューサー、トレヴァー・ホーンの覆面ユニットであるとの噂以外、プロフィールが明かされずライヴも行わない謎のアーティストだったが、後に、トレヴァーの指揮の下、アン・ダドリー、JJ・ジェクザリク、ゲーリー・ランガン、そしてブレーン的にジャーナリストのポール・モーリーが参加していたことが明らかになる。
トレヴァーの発明と言われる“オーケストラヒット”はじめ、当時1000万円以上したサンプラー「フェアライトCMI」によって作り出されたサウンド・コラージュ。
ヒップホップにも多大な影響を与えた、重いビートのミニマルなダンストラックの多いアート・オブ・ノイズであるが、美しくメランコリックな「モーメンツ・イン・ラヴ」という代表曲もある。これは、数々のCMなどに起用されたほか、マドンナの結婚式で使われた。また後年の「レッグス」は、ミスター・マリックのテーマ曲としても有名だ。
ZTTから離れよりポップなアプローチに向かった彼らは、「ピーター・ガン」でグラミー賞を獲得。90年に一旦解散するが、98年にトレヴァー、ポール、そしてアン・ダドリーによる再結成が実現、ドビュッシーを題材にしたアルバムをリリースしてツアーも行った。
