収録曲はどちらもヴァイオリン奏者にとって定番とも言えるものだけに、絶対的な評価はしづらいのですが、甘く美しい音色から、曲に対するベルの真摯な思いがとてもよく伝わってきます。ところどころ自分流のエッセンスをいれてはいますが、全体としては変な外連味もなく素直な演奏だと思います。
今をときめくスターが今になってようやくこの定番を録音したということから、「満を持して」臨んだことがよくわかります。
聴いていると頭の中に情景が浮かぶようなロマンティックな演奏で、部屋に流しているだけで幸せな気分になれます。オススメです。

何度も繰り返し聴いています。
ヴィヴァルディが描きベルが演出した「四季」の情景がストラドの美音に乗って瑞々しく奏でられていきます。小川のせせらぎ、小鳥のさえずり、雨、そして雷。”夏”の第三楽章を聴きながら、ヴィヴァルディの生きた時代の嵐ってどんなだったんだろうなどと想像力を掻き立てられます。
「悪魔のトリル」はハープシコードの控えめな伴奏に乗って表現力豊かなベルのソロバイオリンによる美しくも妖しげなメロディが紡がれてゆきます。中盤以降は息をも継がせない超絶技巧に舌を巻き、特にラストは圧巻です。
