　サラは妹の結婚式のため婚約者と共に実家に帰る。その時、自分が両親の結婚後９ヶ月で生まれていることに気付く。更に母が結婚式の前、別の男ボーと数日間失踪していることも知る。父と似ていないサラは、「ひょっとしたらその男性が私の本当の父かも知れない」と思い、かつて母の恋人だったその男性を訪ねていく。

　ボー性を訪ねて真実を知り、一旦は心を落ち着かせるサラ。しかしそのボーが成功し、富も地位も持っていたことから、事態は意外な方向に…。

　美人で仕事ができて３０歳くらいで精神安定剤を使用している、というラブコメのパターン化されたヒロインの典型のサラ。冒頭の飛行機のシーンでは、「アメリカの女性ってすごいわね」と思ってしまった。（もちろんこれがフィクションだとはわかっているのだが）
　
　私はまだ「卒業」という映画を見ていないが、見てからの方が楽しめると思う。もちろん見ていなくても、話は十分わかります。

　ちなみにこのボーは、その前にサラの祖母とも付き合っていた。要はサラの祖母と付き合っていて、娘に乗り換えたらしい。その設定に、ちょっと引いたが、全然ドロドロしてないです。サラの母は早くに亡くなるが、祖母キャサリンは健在。ラスト近く、サラに会いに来たボーとキャサリンは鉢合わせ。そのシーンは、バックミュージックも含め最高に笑えました。

　キャサリン演じるシャーリー・マクレーンのお茶目な演技は見事。きれいでたくましく、圧倒的な存在感があります。倫理的にはどうかと思うが、楽しめる映画です。
