3年前に初のオールタイムベスト盤として[THE GREATEST TRACKS]がリリースされているのに、今また何故ベスト盤が？
ベスト盤って嫌いではないけど、オールタイムベストのリリースサイクルとしては3年は短すぎるのでは？
そして最新ベストであっても最近の曲は選曲されていないし・・・

このベスト盤は「山中さわおの選曲」というのが”ウリ”だそうだが、[THE GREATEST TRACKS]の収録曲と16曲中10曲が重複している。
選曲者の我を通すのもイイが”ウル”ためにはもう少し考えた選曲した方が良かったのでは？

おそらく今までのファンには同時発売の[MISSING TRACKS]を、初心者には[ザ・コレクターズ大頭鑑 (CDジャーナルムック) (CDジャーナルムック)]とこのベスト盤を、ってことでしょうか？せめて[ベスト盤]とは銘打たず、アーティストが選曲する[ザ・コレクターズ・コンパイルアルバム・シリーズ]という企画であれば値打ちあるかなぁ〜　第2弾はROLLY、第3弾はヒダカトオル、第4弾は・・・ってね

まぁ今回は寺西一雄さんが選曲したのならまだしも、The Pillows/山中さわおさんに”思い入れの全くない私”なら初心者でも[THE GREATEST TRACKS]を選ぶなぁ。そちらは18曲収録だしね。

私はcollectorsもpillowsも共に大ファンです。
それだけに、今回の山中さわおセレクションは楽しみにしていました。どんな「とっておき」を見せてくれるのかと。

いやもう絶妙の選曲！！
シングル曲を網羅するようなありきたりでカタログ風のベストではなく（それはそれで価値はあると思いますが）、本当に想いの込められた選曲だなと感じます。
初めてcollectorsに触れる人は、何もかも忘れて楽しんでください。既に知っている人も、「夢みる君と僕」がsingle versionだったり「僕のタイムマシーン」が東京モッズのコンピからの収録だったりするあたり、思わずニヤリとすることでしょう。

聴き終えた後は72分超のボリューム感もさることながら、選曲に込めた想いを感じて、まるで映画を観た後のような充実感がありました。
collectorsのこともpillowsのことも、より好きになったように感じます。
歌詞カードに書かれた山中さわおさんのメッセージも、彼のナイーブさを感じさせる素晴らしいものでした。

このCDで初めてcollectorsを知った人は、山中さんの示した「入り口」から、もっともっと深く入り込みたくなることでしょう。まずは彼の推している1st「僕はコレクター」を、そして最新にして最高傑作との呼び声の高い「東京虫BUGS」を手にとってみることをお勧めします。
