SANYOのDMX-HD700で撮影したMPEG-4 AVC/H.264形式の動画を編集するために購入しました。
実は、DMX-HD700にはPremiere element 2.0が付属ソフトとして添付されているのですが、これが非常に処理が遅く、とても使えたものではありません。
Premiere Elements 7はマルチコアに対応しているとのことだったので購入してみました。
ちなみに、環境はGA-P35-DS3R REV2、Core2 Quad 6600、4GBのDDR2 800メモリ、ビデオカードGV-NX86T256H、Windows XP home SP3です。
この環境だとたいていの作業で遅いと感じることはないのですが、このソフトは起動からしてややもたつき感があり、一瞬大丈夫かと思ってしまいます。
とりあえず10分程度のビデオクリップを取り込んで、MPEG2へ変換してみます。
タスクマネージャーをみるとちゃんと4コアがすべて最大パフォーマンスで利用されていて、所要時間は6分少々でした。
これなら何とか実用に耐えます。
ビデオクリップを取り込んで並び替えて、タイトルをつけて変換して保存と、非常に手軽にできます。
ipodや携帯用のファイルを簡単に作成できるのも良いです。
マルチコアは必須かと思いますが、まずまずの処理速度でおすすめして良いと思います。

意外と簡単にできると思っていましたが、
結構難しく簡単に編集はできません。
初心者はだいぶ時間が必要です。

環境にもよるかと思いますが、私は稼動させるのをあきらめました。
もちろん、必要スペックは満たしているし、それ以上の環境を準備しています。

たかだか40分のMP4=>WMVのエンコードがまともに動きません。

安定性を無視すれば、操作性は良いと思います。
ただ、初めて編集します！というような初心者にはとっつきにくいのでほかの製品をお勧めします。

私はAdobe製品は好きな人間だったのですが、これは購入してすぐに使用をやめました。
返品できない歯痒さ、皆様に参考にしていただければ。

Adobeさん・・・
こんな中途半端なソフトを客に提供して恥ずかしくないのか。
