「東野純直というアーティストはベストアルバムを発売しない」
と勝手に思い込んでいましたが、遂に（待ちに待った）ベストアルバムの発売です！

曲目がまだ紹介されていないので、シングルが全部収録されるのか等なんとも言えないのですが、
東野さんのオフィシャルブログには「1996年の未発表曲も収録されます」とのこと。
これだけでかなり期待できます！

いままで発売されたシングルは「Alive（通販のみ発売）」以前のものは残念ながらすべて廃盤で、
手に入れたくてもなかなか手に入れられない状況です。
そんな中で、今回のベストアルバム発売の吉報、これまでのシングルを持っているファンも、新たに
ファンになった人にも、マストアイテムになること間違いなしです！
（しかも2,000円なので、コストパフォーマンスも良好です）

東野純直さんのデビューから3年間のシングルを
c/wも集めたベストアルバムです。
彼は王道のJ-POPでありながら
ちょっと洋楽の香りのするAOR寄りのサウンドで
特にそれはアルバムを聴く事で
強くサウンド志向を感じる事の出来るアーティストでした。

またシングルではクラブサウンドを意識したものから
美しいバラードまで幅広いサウンドを手掛けていましたが
どれも最終的には｢POPであること｣を忘れておらず
こういうアーティストがメジャーとして活躍するんだなと
その手腕に感激したアーティストのひとりでした。

僕が一番好きな楽曲は｢確かに愛したとき｣
映画は見ませんでしたが、高橋由美子主演の｢時の輝き｣で
主題歌になったものです。
この曲は歌詞も秀逸でした。
特にBメロの部分の｢愛は安らぐものじゃない　愛は戦いだと｣
という部分は、恋愛の奥深さと核心を言い得ていて
深いなぁ〜と当時からここでグッと鷲みにされていました。

90年代前半は男性ソロアーティストの不遇の時期でした。
その中でも奮闘した東野くんの音楽は
やはり他のアーティストにはどこか足りなかった
強い芯の部分を感じます。
当時を知らない世代の人にも、この音楽に是非触れて欲しいですね。
