本作のキャッチ・コピーがイイ感じなんだよね。「ロックとユーモアとちょっぴりの反抗心を胸に」というもの。このアニメの主人公をぴったり言い表しています。

革命が起きてイスラム政権が誕生して生活が一変、服装など厳しく取り締まられてそのうちイラン・イラク戦争が起きて自由な行動が出来なくなる訳です。そんな中でも反抗心の強い主人公の女の子マルジは、「ＰＵＮＫ　ＩＳ　ＮＯＴ　ＤＥＡＤ」とプリントされたＴシャツを着て、ビージーズやアバはダサいと、アイアン・メイデンを大音量で聞く。そして、親元を離れてウィーンへ留学。自国政権に息苦しさを覚え海外留学ってのは、かなり裕福な婦女子だから出来たことなんですがね．．．。

家族の中でもとりわけおばあちゃんが素敵。女性であることをいつまでも失わないし、反抗心あるマルジには、「常に公明正大でいること。バカなつに傷つけられても、そいつの頭が悪いと思って相手にしないこと。妬みや憎悪ほど醜いものはない、大切なのは許すことだよ。」と．．．。

本作を観れば、イランの現代史がとってもよく解ります。イランの女性がチャドル（顔を覆う布）を着けていますよね。あれ、いつからの慣習だと思いますか？　1969年にイランに生まれた女の子マルジが子供の頃には、チャドルを着てる女性は出てきません。長じて、マルジがウィーンに留学する前後には、女子はヴェールを身につけなきゃならない社会になる。チャドルが義務づけられてから、まだ30年も経ってないなんて、思いもしなかったです。

原作に無いエピソードも有ったりして、なかなか興味深いです。
ゴジラの映画をおばあちゃんと観に行ったり。

北米版はBlu-rayが出てるけど、日本版は出ないのか？

カナダやヨーロッパのアートアニメのスタイルで政治的な題材を扱っている、という感じで、
映像に見とれながらイランの政情に詳しくなれるのがいいですね。
ただ、主人公の祖母が映画館で、「ゴジラ」と「キングコング」をごっちゃにして
日本の悪口を言う場面には、へこみました。
なんでそこでそういうカタチで日本を出すかなあ・・・
