全英アルバムチャート初登場1位で1週で44万枚以上のセールスを記録。日本では渋谷の某有名レコード店で現在品切れ状態。おそらく売れる枚数を少なく見積もって発注したんでしょう・・・現在日本でもっとも過小評価されているバンドかも。(アメリカでもらしいが) 本当にオリジナルでクラッシックになりうる音、独特の空気感、そして官能的な声。ロック好きは必ず一度聞いたほうがいいアルバム(2stアルバムもお勧め)

前作because of the timesにおいて、グルーヴ主体の前半とメロディ志向のアンセミックな曲を中心とした後半、という風に明確に線引きされていたように、さらにそのアンセミックな曲もサウンドは相変わらずラフで生々しいままだったように、ビリビリしたグルーヴとヒリヒリと胸に沁みる歌心が、そのままの状態でそこにあるというのが、彼等のサウンドという感じだった。

しかし、今作ではその強靭なグルーヴとさらに魅力を増したメロディが奇跡的な融合を果たしている。1stシングルsex on fire級、もしくはそれ以上の曲がゴロゴロしているというポップな感触にも関わらず、ビリビリとしたグルーヴが矯められることなく、メロディと渾然一体となっているのだ。
いわば暴れ馬の如き生々しいグルーヴを意のままに操るかのような離れ業であり、アレンジやビートが多彩になったからとか、まして洗練などという言葉で説明できるレベルではない。

それはやはり奇跡と表現するしかなく、しかも前作からわずか1年半というのだから驚くばかり。もちろんグルーヴはビリビリと身体中を刺激し、歌はヒリヒリと胸に染みる。驚きと興奮と感動に頭がクラクラする、そんなとんでもないアルバムだ。

　イギリスとオーストラリアでベストセラーになっていると聞いて、”英語圏で売れているからハズレはないだろう”と思い、興味本意で購入してみたのですが、大当たりでした。自分のように”最近、まともに聞ける洋楽のロック・アルバムがない”なんて思っている人にはおすすめしたいです。最近の若手バンドの音とは全然違うので！　スケール感（初期のPearl Jam)プラス、ジャム・バンド風(David Matthews Band)な演奏スタイルがいいですよね。リード。ヴォーカルの声もつい、真似てみたくなるほど個性的だし。今後、間違いなくビッグ・ネームになるバンドだと思います。でも、こういう音のバンドは日本では受けないかも、なんで？？
