　ギターマガジン誌の表紙を飾っていたのにはびっくりした。アイドルっぽいデビューだったけど、その実力が認められてきたんだね。
　
　ロスのNokia Theaterという、アリーナクラスの大会場に、Tシャツにジーンズ、そしてアコギ１本でたたずむジョン。3部構成のライブはアコースティックセットから。クラプトンの“Unplugged”も顔負けの、このギターワークと、ハスキーヴォイスにファルセットを巧みに交えたボーカルの説得力ったら！時折サポートも交えつつ、トム・ペティ作のカバーも素晴らしい（5）まで一気に聞かせる第1部（サビの部分はファルセットもいいんだけど、ペティのように張り上げて欲しかったかな〜）。

　第2部はS・ジョーダン（ds）、P・パラディーノ（b）のベテラン2人を従えての“Trio”編成。バシッとお揃いの黒のスーツに見を包み、鉄壁のリズム・セクション（やっぱすげぇ！）をバックに従えたジョンは、縦横無尽にギターを弾きまくり、ジミヘンの（7）（13）に象徴される、一大ブルース絵巻を展開する。そのジミヘン作（13）からトリオ編成でのオープニングである（6）にメドレーで連なるラスト展開はまさにスリリング。すごい！

　Disc2は第3部、フルバンド編成でのライブを収録。再びTシャツ・ジーンズに戻ったジョンは、惜しげもなく代表曲を繰り出し観客を煽る。確かに声援は、アイドルコンサートのように黄色いが、やはり彼は本物だ！素晴らしい、この言葉以外思いつかない、傑作ライブ♪

　惜しむらくは、曲と曲との間に時折挿入されるインタビューコメント。僕はこの形式が苦手。ライブはライブ、インタビューはインタビューでまとめて欲しいんだよね･･････。あと、やっぱ日本盤は高いよね。その分は★１つ減点かなぁ。輸入盤をお勧めするね♪

初期からJMを追っています。私もギター弾きますがJMは年々良くなっていくアーティストの一人と思います。特にアルバムよりライブが圧倒的に良くて、本物の香りがぷんぷんしています。ミーハー臭い部分も多いですがジミヘンやSRV好きな人にありがちな偏った雰囲気は一切無くて、ポップで今時の＋α理想像的なアーティストの一人と思います。

本当はこの商品のブルーレイ版が欲しいのですが日本語字幕版が発売されていませんので諦めてDVD版を購入しました。BD国内版の発売を強く願います。

john mayerとは何か、という問に答えるべくして存在するのが本作だと思う。

野外でdelayペダルと駆使して一人多重奏をする場面や、バックステージ、インタビュー等盛りだくさんである。
しかし、本編こそが至宝。シンプルなステージと照明、danny clinchによる映画の様な映像編集の中、歌でギターで魅せるジョン。

第一部はアコースティックセッション。
相変わらずギターでスラップしたり、技術は申し分ない。透き通る声と楽曲の良さも相まって、説得力十分。
一人ならではの世界観が美しい。

第二部はトリオでの登場。
ピノとスティーブは超一流ミュージシャンだが、それを食うくらいのジョンのギター。
若干音が若いものの、リフやソロの腕とセンスは凄まじい。何度聴いても飽きさせない。
黒スーツでキメた、バンドらしい掛け合いが魅力の二部が一番好きです。

三部はフルバンドで有名曲のメドレー。
贅沢の限りを尽くした編成で、これが世間でいうジョンメイヤーなんだな、と認識。
彼のpopな側面が出ています。
ブルース曲、i don't need no doctorは圧巻。

どれもジョン自身であり、三編成それぞれが統合されない故におおきな魅力をもつ決定的瞬間。
