　同時再発されたアトランティック第一作目の「貴方だけを愛して」に比べ、本作のほうが断然良い！
　わずか三年半〜四年の間に、サウンドが全然進化している。（マーヴィン・ゲイもそうだったが…）
　自らの魅力を損なうことなく、しかも、ニュー・ソウル的な時代の先端の波にもしっかりと乗っている。
　バックのメンバーも凄い！
　キーボードに、ドニー・ハサウェイ、ビリー・プレストン。
　ギターにヒュー・マクラッケン、コーネル・デュプリー。
　ベースにエリック・ゲイル（！）、チャック・レイニー、後年クルセイダーズに参加するロバート・ポップウエル。
　ドラムスにバーナード・パーディー。
　フルートはヒューバート・ロウズ、と来たもんだ。
　２曲目「デイ・ドリーミング」でのドニーのエレピとバーナードのドラムスは素晴らしい！　コーネル・デュプリーのギターも随所で渋い味わいを出している。
　選曲もバラエティに富んでいて、オリジナルのほか、表題曲となったニーナ・シモンから、バカラック、レノン＝マッカートニー、オーティス、エルトン・ジョン…など、幅広い。
　私は熱心なファンではないので、アトランティック時代のアレサをすべて聞いているわけではないが、本作は最高傑作の一枚なのではないか？
　出来れば、同時期録音の、「明日に架ける橋」「リーン・オン・ミー」など、シングルのみ発売曲をボーナス追加して欲しかったところだ。

アレサ　フランクリンは名前だけ知っていました。で、何でこのＣＤをゲットしたかというと、好きなミュージシャンがバックを務めているからです。目的はそのミュージシャンでしたが、アルバムそのものはとても渋くて、深夜のバーが似合いそうな感じでＧＯＯＤです。表情のあるピアノとヴォーカルが最高です。ただ難点は、録音ソースが古いため、ステレオではあるものの、ベースとドラムの録音定位がセンターでなく、ちょっと違和感を覚えますが、それを我慢すれば超お奨めです。星４はそのため。ちなみに好きなミュージシャンというのは、ロバート　ポップウェルというベーシストで、彼が一曲。あと大半はチャック　レイニーで、これもマル。また、故人となったエリック　ゲイルがギターではなくベースで参加してて中々よい。ドラムはバーナード　パーディーがメインで、例のタチーチーを聴かせてくれます。いいですよ。

女王アレサ・フランクリンの'72年リリース作品です。A.フランクリンのベスト・パフォーマンスとなると、'70s初期を挙げる方が多いかと思いますが、"Amazing Grace"程にゴスペル色を前面に出すモノでもなく、"Aretha Live at Fillmore West"程の熱気ムンムンでもない、所謂、ちょいどいい湯加減のA.フランクリンの良さ(ソウル、R&B、ポップ)を味わうにはいい作品なのではないかと思います。
夜中に一人で聴くとイントロのピアノだけでも"ぐっ"ときてしまう[1](私だけか(^^;)、ファンキーに攻める[3]、アルバムタイトル曲であり、ジャズシンガーのニーナ・シモン作である[4](個人的に非常に好きです)等など、バランスとエンターテイメントを無理なく両立させていると思います。また、セールスに良好だっただけでなく、本作でグラミー・アワードとして"Best Female R&B Vocal Performance"も手中に収めています。
また、バックを務める面子も流石に凄い方々が揃っています。ドニー・ハザウェイ(org、el-p)、ビリー・プレストン(org)、コーネル・デュプリー(g)、エリック・ゲイル(b)、チャック・レイニー(b)、バーナード・バーディ(ds)、ヒュー・マクラッケン(g)等など。
