オリンピックのテーマ曲に「白か黒かで答えろという難題をつきつけられ」・・・
やっぱり凄い。
この歌は「金以外は意味がない」とは言ってないけど、かといって、何でも良いとは言っていません。

フェンシングの大田選手の銀のように、
凄いチャレンジであってそれを成し遂げた時、
一番綺麗に光り輝くものがあるということ。

No.1が大事それ以外認めないという強者の理論でもなく、
いや誰でもonly１なんていうぬるま湯の話でもなく、

一番大事なのは努力、そう気づかせてくれる名曲です。

オリンピックというものを通じて、たくさんの「GIFT」が交わされる。
選手の頑張りに対して、メダルという「GIFT」が贈られる。僕らが”贈った”声援という「GIFT」に対して、選手からもその姿をもって「GIFT」が贈り返される。そして僕らはまた「GIFT」を贈る。
そんな好ましい、理想的な循環がこの夏行われたということを、僕は素直に嬉しく思う。

勝ちも負けもメダルもない僕らの日常。それなのにどこか劣等感すら覚えてしまいがちな(それはオリンピックを見れば特にそうかも知れないけど)、そんな僕らに捧げられたエール。

勝ち負けを超えて、みんなを巻き込む”オリンピック”というものの意義。
勝てなかった選手からも、僕らは大切な「GIFT」を受け取っている。
勝ち負けのない日常を暮らす僕らも、テレビの向こうから選手へ大切な「GIFT」を届けている。

だからきっと
メダルはなくとも、輝きがある。
勝ちはなくとも、価値はある。

僕らのなんでもない毎日は、この曲によって「GIFT」として包まれる。
なんでもない日常こそが素晴らしいものなんだという、｢彩り」という曲で投げかけられていたメッセージが、「オリンピック」という大きなものをあえて通じて再び投げかけられていると思う。
なにげない、そしてどこにでもあるような、そんな当たり前のようなこと。でも僕らにとってそんなありふれた日々も"与えられた"「GIFT」と思うことによって、鮮やかに彩られていく。その中でそれぞれが素敵な明日を願って暮らしていく。

この曲はきっと、オリンピックに元気と勇気をもらいながら日常を歩む僕ら一人ひとりの背中を、さりげない強さでそっと押してくれたんじゃないかと思う。

ミスチルのバラードには、まずハズレはありませんね！！
この曲も、出だしのフレーズから見事に入り込んでしまいました。
オリンピック云々に関わらず、今回のミスチル「GIFT」も大好きです。
いつものように手の込んだＣＤジャケケースも好感が持てます。
また、カップリングもいい感じです。
２曲目、「横断歩道を渡る人たち」は、吉田拓郎を彷彿とさせますよ。
間もなくリリースの「HANABI」にも期待大ですね。
