冒頭のカーアクションから最後まで十分楽しめます。「２」では交通事故で失った妻の謎が解明され余計に犯罪組織に立ち向かう事に燃えるマーチン・リッグス。悪役も個性十分で、あの世に追放されるに値する悪役です。銃撃戦も相変わらず派手で前作にもあったヘリに向けてベレッタの１６連射がまた炸裂します。護衛する事になったジョー・ペシーにも笑えます。このシリーズ、もっと日本でヒットしてほしかった

エディ・マーフィのビバリーヒルズ・コップから、ポリスアクション映画の方向性が変わり、
主人公刑事にはユーモラスなキャラが好まれるようになりました。
また、刑事がコンビで行動するスタイル（バディ・ムービー）も多く制作されましたね。
そんな中でも、メル・ギブソンとダニー・グローバー主演の
リーサル・ウェポンもシリーズ化され大ヒットしました。
シリーズでは、この第２作「炎の約束」（１９８９年公開。誰との約束なのかは不明？）
が一番おもしろいと思います。
相変わらずメル・ギブソンとダニー・グローバーのかけ合いがコメディ調に進み、
それでいてアクション満載で、笑いながらドキドキ楽しめます。
また、悪役が本当に鬼のように悪いヤツなので、尚更リッグスたちを応援してしまいます。
最後に悪党をやっつけた時には、ホントすかっとしますよ。
観る者を物語に引き込み、感情移入させていく。
リチャード・ドナー監督の演出は見事としか言いようがありません。
更にこの作品で華となるパッツィ・ケンジットの清純な美しさも魅力のひとつです。
彼女は、ロックバンド「エイス・ワンダー」のボーカルであることは有名ですね。
作品の中で、ジョー・ペシがリッグスのトレーラーハウスを掃除しているときのＢＧＭに、
エイス・ワンダーの名曲「モンマルトルの森」が流れます。お約束とでも言いましょうか…。
そのパッツィ・ケンジットが、突然始まるリッグスとの熱いラブシーンで、
かわいいオッ◯◯を披露しています。
かなりの時間、それもはっきりと。そりゃあもう超お宝映像なのですよ！！
当時は、えっあの人気バンド「エイス・ワンダー」のパッツィ・ケンジットが〜！！
やるもんだぁ！！と驚いたもんです。
そんなこんなで、ＵＫロックファンでもあるボクには、思い入れの大きな作品なのです。
ＤＶＤの画質も比較的きれいですし、日本語吹き替えも入っています。
絶対お買い得ですので、コレクションに加えましょう。
