ようやくアニメのOPでも新曲ライオンOPが始まりました。
ライブでライオンを始めて聴いたときは、
「ランカとシェリルのデュエットである意味はなんだろう？」
「なぜライオン？」
と疑問が残りましたが、『18話 フォールド・フェーム』の回を見てその疑問が解けました。
「生き残りたい」
このメッセージが前作「誰とキスをする？」につづくマクロスFの後半の物語を現すテーマです。
利用され、歌手としての命を絶たれ、命まで危ういシェリル。
そして、実は同じように利用され、いつその特殊な使命と共に命を使い捨てられてもおかしくないランカ。
二人の美少女が「生き残り」をかけて「ライオン」のように強く戦い生き抜くことが後半のテーマ。
これぞ、マクロスFの学園恋愛から戦う少女の物語への大転換でした。
すばらし過ぎて鳥肌が立ってくる。
終身雇用も崩れて残業代もロクに出ない明日も見えない派遣社員だらけの国だとしても
こんなアニメ作品が見られるのならば、日本に生まれてよかった。
ライオンとはいかないまでも、自分も、ネコ程度には戦ってみようか。

個人的なお勧めは２曲目の「ノーザンクロス」。
テレビのＥＤで初めてノーザンクロスのイントロを聴いた瞬間に電気が走ったような感じでした。
独特のリズム感で歌い、Ｂメロの畳み掛ける部分などは聴いていてどんどん盛り上がってきます。（私の場合、音楽鑑賞の際に歌詞の内容までは考えてないのですが、その代わり歌詞のリズム感や語呂などはかなり気にしています。）
相変わらず菅野よう子さんのセンス、また、坂本真綾さんの楽曲などでも組んできた岩里祐穂さんとの相性の良さを感じさせる一曲だと思いました。

マクロスを見始めたのがここ数週間。とりあえず1話から見てみようかな、人気だし。
という感じだった。
だが見始めると｢トライアングラー｣から何もかもがアニメにマッチしている。
ストーリーもさることながらその曲の合い加減に驚かされた。

しかし今度のこの｢ライオン｣
物語も佳境に入ってきてとんでもない名曲を持ってこられた。
シェリルとランカの気持ちが最大限に反映されている曲だと思った。

そして｢ノーザンクロス｣
これはアニメの22話のタイトルとして使用されたが、あの回を見たら
絶対にこの曲は好きになってしまうはずであろう。
あのラストのほう。格好良い連中のバックで流れるこれは
歌詞がまさにあの場面のために作られた曲のように（いや、たぶんそうだけど）
とてもピッタリで感動した。

アニメがあんなに面白くてそれに完全に合った曲が主題歌なんだからそりゃ売れるわ。
