まさに真夏の渚を切り取った一枚。気温がグングン上がるビーチでの風景から夏の終わりのせつなさまで。杏里の全てがあります。「サーフ・シティ」はシングル以上に著名な曲になり、また最後まで無駄が無い角松プロデュースも聴きどころ。同時期発売のシングル「キャッツ・アイ」のB面「Dancing With The Sunshine」を他の2作品と同じくボーナス・トラックで収録してほしいが、雰囲気違うからね。これはこれで(浮いてるシングルなどは)まとめてコンプリートで出ないかな?

当時、アナログ盤A面（ディスコ・サイド）は「GOOD-BYE BOOGIE DANCE」~「YES I'M IN LOVE」まで、
角松敏生が作詞、作曲、編曲。
角松敏生はギターとコーラスで参加。角松バンドの中枢、青木智仁、友成好宏等も参加している。

「LADY SUNSHINE」は角松敏生の「スカイ・ハイ~TAKE YOU TO THE SKY HIGH~」そのもの。
ブラスアレンジは佐藤準。秀逸バラードは「YES I'M IN LOVE」

アナログ盤B面（シー・サイド）は小林武史、杏里の作品。編曲は佐藤準。
秀逸バラードは小林武史の「JUST BE YOUR SELF」と杏里の「BEACH BOY IN MY HEART」

本当に言葉では表現しきれない傑作アルバム。当時の杏里のコンサートで盛り上がったのは、やはり、角松敏生が絡んでいる作品。

杏里と言えば角松敏樹プロデュースの３作がファンからは最も支持されているのも関わらず長年廃盤状態でした。またＣＤは音がかなり悪くて迫力がありませんでした。だからといってANRI IN THE BOXに手を出したファンはごく少数だったはずです。なので今回の再発は多くのファンにとってうれしいものだと思います。リマスターで抜群に音がよくなっています。surf cityがリマスター音源で聴ける日が来るとは思ってもみませんでした。
