沖井礼二(ex Cymbals)ソロプロジェクト『FROG(フロッグ)』始動!
Cymbals解散後初の公式楽曲、アルバムリリース。

ポスト渋谷系という言葉で括られているバンド「Cymbals(シンバルズ)」(2005年解散)
の主要人物であり、全ての作詞、作曲、編曲、ビジュアルイメージを作り上げていた
「沖井礼二」の初のソロ名義でのリリース。

JAZZシンガー「noon」をヴォーカルに起用した「TEOREMA」は配信第一弾シングルリリース。、
アルバム収録曲にも様々なシーンで活躍するヴォーカリストを迎えた充実の内容。
全編、研ぎ澄まされた疾走感と透明感に溢れている、洋楽テイストにあふれた1枚となる。

アーティストについて

作曲家/音楽プロデューサー/アレンジャー/ベーシスト。広島出身。
1997年にCymbalsを結成。翌年インディー・デビュー。1999年メジャーデビュー。
以降同グループのプロデューサーとして、殆どの楽曲の作詞・作曲・アレンジ、
アート・ディレクションを手がける。8枚のシングル、5枚のフル・アルバム、
3枚のミニ・アルバムをリリースの後、2003年9月にCymbalsを解散。
以降は作・編曲家として多数のCM、ゲーム、アニメーション、テレビ番組等の
音楽制作に携わり、その活動領域を広げている。
2006年9月にはIsabelle Antena(イザベル・アンテナ)の「French Riviera」の
タイトル曲(福富幸宏との共同プロデュース)を手がける。
ピート・タウンジェントとヘンリー・マンシーニを尊敬し、リッケンバッカー社の
ベースギターと「F△7 on G」の響きをこよなく愛する。

０８年発表。Cymbals 解散後、三年もの期間を経て発表された沖井礼二による作品。もはやそのCymbalsの名前もほとんど霞んでしまっているような状態のため、正直なところもっと早くアルバムを発表すべきだったという思いもあるが、おそらく完璧主義の故の時間の経過。この素晴しい作品の前にはそれも止む無しだろう。演奏はほぼパーマネントなメンバーに、青野りえ、高津哲也などのゲスト・ヴォーカルを加える形になっており、メンバーの固定された一つのグループとはなっていない。これは過渡期と見るべきなのか、メンバーを固定せずに型を作らないようにしているのかは今後の展開で分かることとなるだろう。元Cymbalsの他のメンバーは参加していない。
１．はエレクトロニカとジャズを融合したかのような曲。２．はテクノとジャズを融合・・・というよりも『Sine』時代の曲をより今日的、かつド派手にしたような曲。久々にCymbals時代に感じた、鳥肌のような電気が体を突き抜けた。３．はもはやCymbalsそのまま。あのオルガン、ピアノ・・・そのままだが、ナゼ？こんなにも嬉しいのは自分でも良く分からない。４．はボサノヴァ。けだるい雰囲気もまた良い。５．はインディーズ時代のCymbals そのまま。ちょっと泣けた。
本作ははっきり言って最新のCymbals から一歩後退したかのようなノスタルジーを感じさせる仕上がり。まるで「やり残したこと」を次々と披露されているかのような感覚を受けるが、それが物凄く、本当に物凄く嬉しい。もし今後、Cymbalsの面々が集まり作品を発表してもかつてのマジックは起きないだろうが、本作を聞く限りでは沖井氏の作品にはそれがある。次作の発表も心待ちにしています。
裏ジャケットのデザインなどはCymbals時代を踏襲しており、元ファンには嬉しいところ。ちなみに１０．は国際カエル年ＪＡＺＡ実行委員会公式キャンペーンソングとのことだが、その団体の存在は謎。

本当、どれだけ彼の活動開始を待っただろううか。

アルバム全曲を通した流れが素晴らしい。
個人的には最初の４曲でもうピークに達してしまっている感もあるが。

ボーカルがどうも土岐麻子風に聴こえてしまうのは、
沖井氏のディレクションのせいなのであろうか。

おすすめはTEOREMAではなくMoustache and Beard。
いままでありそうでなかった、でも沖井さんっぽい、
そしてかっこいいナイスな曲です。
