内容紹介

07年12月、単身渡英し、ロンドン郊外のスタジオで録りあげた、古アルバムとしては実に2年半ぶりの新作が完成しました。
小鳥を遠目に見ながら芝生の庭で曲をつくり、牧場の羊と窓越しに見つめあいながら録音し、オフの日には、湖に集う黒鳥の大群に目を丸くし、
また季節はずれの湖水地方で、迷ったあげくに郵便配達人と友達になったりしながら気持ちの赴くままに歌い綴った10曲。湯川潮音にとって、音楽活動の一つのきっかけともなった国で、再び自分の唄声、きもちとじっくり向き合い、アコースティックに徹して作った作品です。

どうも吹っ切れたような・・・。
インディーズからメジャーに移籍した直後のセルフタイトルアルバムやその後のシングルなどから感じられた一種の気負いが薄らいだように感じられ、聴いててとても安心出来、また本当に心地よい作品に仕上がっていると思います。

なるほど、商品紹介やＣＤ帯に書かれている「もう一度時分の唄声、気持ちとじっくり向き合い〜」といった彼女の内なる想いはそのまま楽曲にも反映されていて、敢えて例えるならいくつかの曲については「逆上がりの国」前後の作風に感じられることは確かです。
しかし、単に以前の姿に立ち戻ったと言うより、むしろ一旦心の中を整理しまっさらな状態にしてから新たなスタートを切りたいという想いがこのアルバムから感じられて仕方ありません。間違いなく成長している彼女の今の素直な気持ちがそのまま反映されているようなものです。

ごくごく自然に心の中にスゥ〜っと入ってくるこの新作、聴きこむ毎に嬉しくなってきます。

本当に清々しいアルバム。

ジャケットも本人の油絵という事で「逆上がりの国」を想起させます。

音も声もとてもシンプル。そして、とても温かい。

あの頃に戻った、というよりはぐるっと廻って一回り大きくなったり削ぎ落としたり
した結果このアルバムも戻ってきたような感じがします。

ロンドンの郊外でゆったりとした時間の中で、風を感じ、木漏れ日の中で自然と対話し
出来てきた曲たちはとても心地よく、何度も何度も聞いてしまいます。

こういう温度と空気感を感じるアルバムはきっと聴く人にとってとても大切な
ものになるでしょうね。彼女には永く聴き続けられるような音楽をずっと
マイペースに活動しリリースしてほしいです。

メリー・ホプキンの「Voyage of the Moon」は何かようやく収録された感じですが
嬉しいですね。とても彼女らしいカヴァーなので。

以前からファンでしたが、この作品の１曲目の彼女の歌声を聴き、知り得た時以上の衝撃を受けました。本当に美しい。
今までの作品でも素晴らしい美声を聴かせてくれていましたが、彼女の主張なのか、特徴的であろうとしていたのか、
少し癖のある歌い方だと感じる方もおられたと思います。しかしこの作品では「いかに美しく歌えるか」または
「美しいと感じてもらえるか」という点に注力したかのように、とても丁寧な歌い方に徹している点が好印象です。
また、私は彼女の「詩」の寓話的でメランコリックなのに、時に衝動的・刹那的で危うい感じがとても好きなのですが、
今回はやや柔らかい表現になっている点も、作品の牧歌的な雰囲気にマッチしていて素晴らしいと感じました。
聴いたことの無い人もぜひこの作品の第一声を聴いて欲しい。震えます。そして彼女の詩がすーっと心に流れてきます。
間違いなく一生ものの作品となることでしょう。
