最初、聞いた時は今一つかなと思っていたけど、聴きこむ程にこれはなかなかの力作であると感じています。個人的には3rdアルバムがお気に入りではありますが、コールドプレイは聴きこむ程に味が出るバンドですね。ブライアンイーノのサウンドエフェクトが評価の分かれるところだとは思いますが、色々な試みをして、新しい魅力を出そうとしている姿勢は評価できると思います。

U2よりはポップな感じですけど、似てます。

売れてなかったら毛嫌いする人も少ないんでしょうね。
世の中、メジャー嫌いという人も結構いますから。
ただ、「そんな大げさなぁ」という感じに賛美しているレビューもちょっと引きますが。

最近は年のせいか新しいバンドの曲を聴くことがめっきり減ったが、Coldplayは過去3作全て聴いており、特に前作のX&Yは好きなアルバムの一つだ。そんな彼らの第4作がこの作品だが、結論から言うとどの曲もクオリティが高く気に入りました。

まず始まりの3曲目がいい。何かの始まりを予感させるような静かなイントロから始まり、コーラスが美しい「Cemeteries Of London」が続き、そして3曲目の「Lost!」で一気に頂点に達します。「Lost!」はこのアルバムで一番好きな曲だ。

その後も、「Lovers In Japan / Reign Of Love」、「Yes」の後半、「Violet Hill」、締めくくりの「Death And All His Friends」などいい曲が揃っています。

理屈抜きに心地よい音楽に浸ることが出来る作品です。
