プロデュースはライ・クーダー。歌うのは、名女性歌手オマーラ・ポルトゥオンドを別にすれば、コンパイ・セグンドやイブラヒム・フェレールなど、キューバ音楽シーンでもすでに忘れられていたベテラン歌手たちでした。そんな彼らがかつてハバナに人気があったダンス・クラブである「ブエナ・ビスタ・ソシアル・クラブ」を思い出し、その時代の全盛期のキューバ音楽をいまに再現する、というのが、このアルバムの物語です。今回の再発にあたり、かつての日本盤はもちろん、イギリス盤やアメリカ盤にも収録されていなかった幻の音源をボーナス・トラックとして収録させていただくことになりました。さらに独自リマスタリングをしています。
