2003年の復活時は「え、まだ元気だったの？」と驚いた程度でしたが、
ディアンジェロやエリカ・バドゥら、90年代以降のネオ・ソウルを仕掛けた誇り
高き仕事人、ジェームズ・ポイザー＆クエスト・ラブがプロデュースと聞いては、
流石に無視もできないか．．．って、うわっ、ごめんなさい！！！
恐るべしアル・グリーン！　恐るべしポイザー＝クエスト・ラブ！

クエスト・ラブ曰く、過去の「レジェンド」をプロデュースするには、従来２つ
の方法、「サンタナ路線」か「トニー・ベネット路線」しかなかったという。
つまり、新しい才能との競演で若さを装うか、大物の貫禄を漂わせるか。

しかし、今回彼は、第三の方法「アル・グリーン路線」を確立したという。
そして、それはどうやら、　「カッコ良いから、昔のまんまでいいっすよね」
という、目からウロコのアプローチ（笑）！

クエスト・ラブの叩き出すシンプルなビート、ポイザーのアーシーなオルガン、
ホーンズは、エイミー・ワインハウスのオーセンティック・サウンドに貢献した
ダップ・キングス。そしてストリングス・アレンジは、御大ラリー・ゴールド。

そうして、完璧に再現された'70sサウンドに乗る、アル・グリーンの、これ
また昔と寸分違わぬクールなファルセット！
アンソニー・ハミルトン曰く　「口の端で歌うような感じがいいんだよね」。
そうそうそう！！

曲も最高。　特にアル自ら指名したというコリーヌ・ベイリー・レイ書き下しの
２曲！　彼女の作曲能力は、ジョン・レジェンドと並ぶ現Ｒ＆Ｂ界最高峰では？

ともかく、アル・グリーン路線、大成功です！！！

全盛期の30年前と同じ音なんです。間違いなく前作を凌いだ傑作です。奇跡としか言いようがありません。オールド・ウェイブで結構!枯れないアル・グリーンのソウルに感謝しましょう。
