このCDの収録曲を(ブライアン・ウィルソンになりきり？)自らの裏声にて密かに唄うと、いかに優れた曲であったかがよく分かる。特にイン・マイ・ルームは感動もの。不思議な企画のアルバムだが、後々の編集盤にもBacking Trackいわゆるカラオケがずいぶん収録されているところを考えると、彼らはかなり自信を持っていたのか？いずれにしろ、「カラオケ」ブームの遥か昔にこのような企画があったことは、興味深い。

発表当時は全く製作意図すら理解されず、長らく珍盤といった扱いに甘んじて来た作品だが、ブライアン・ウィルソンを中心とした芸術的な彼らの音楽性に再評価の機運が高まるにつれて、ブライアンの天才的なサウンド作りが垣間見える通好みのアルバムとして、グングンその価値が高まってきている。

「ペット・サウンズ」収録曲は勿論、他の曲も絶妙なセンスにより正に天才としか言いようの無い閃きに満ちたアプローチが聴かれる。これはカラオケにするには恐れ多い、これ自体で鑑賞に値する逸品である。
