Japanese two disc (CD + NTSC/Region 2 DVD) pressing of G. Love & Special Sauce's 2008 album features two bonus tracks ('Honey' and 'Superhero Brother') plus a bonus DVD that contains four videos. G. Love and Special Sauce's Superhero Brother is another entry in a career that now spans 15 years. Superhero Brother combines both political and party songs. The album is a reflection of the band's eclectic recipe for its Special Sauce, from tasty, post-Hip-Hop Beatles-influenced blues-rock 'Communication', spicy tropical island rhythms over an Archie Bell and the Drells 'Tighten U' groove 'City Livin'' and well-seasoned Chambers Brothers-style funk-rock crossed with Cream's 'I Feel Free' ('What We Need') to sweet, blue-eyed Philly soul 'Crumble'.Sony. 2008.

ファンク、ジャズ、ソウル、ブルース、ヒップホップを取り入れたオーガニック・オルタナティヴ・ロック・サウンド。彼らのキャリアのなかでは、いちばんメロウなんだけど、ポップなアルバムですね。やはり音楽的な力量では、盟友ジャック・ジョンソンよりも数段上だな、と思いました。
日本盤ボーナストラック二曲もとてもいい、と思います。
DVDは、前作『レモネード』までのPV集。「コールド・ビヴァレッジ」、「キッス＆テル」、「ブーティー・コール」、「ホット・クッキン」の4曲で、計約14分。やっぱりいちばん古い「コールド・ビヴァレッジ」が、これから何かが始まる予感でいっぱいで、衝撃的です。

この夏はJack Johnsonの「Sleep Through the Static」とこれで決まりです。

『SUPERHERO BROTHER』は海へ行く車中で、海に着いたら『Sleep Through the Static』でまったりと。
