　ボサノヴァは好きで、長年、いろんなミュージシャンやアルバムを聞きかじってきたが、浅学にも、本作の主人公、ボラ・セチというギタリストのことはほとんど知らなかった。
　最初に彼の名前を耳にしたのは、スイングジャーナル社のディスコグラフィーで、ディジー・ガレスピーのあるアルバムに参加している、という情報を読んだときだ。
　印象的な名前から、なんとはなしに気になってはいたが、今回、「フィンガー・スナッピン・ミュージック！」シリーズの一環として世界初ＣＤ化されたのを機に、さっそく購入してみた。

　結論として、アタリ！である。

　１曲目のニール・セダカのカバーからゴキゲンです。
　続いて、ハリー・ニルソンを２曲カバーした後、ジョージ・ベンソンに先駆けて、ビートルズの「ゴールデン・スランバーズ」を取り上げる。
　さらに、Ｂ面に移ると、ローラ・ニーロ、スティーブン・スティルス、そしてラストはジョーニ・ミッチェルの「青春の光と影」のカバーである。
　カバー選曲も絶妙だが、演奏のほうも、ただ曲の良さや有名さ加減に胡坐をかかず、自分の個性を生かしながら軽快かつグルーヴィーに演奏しまくる。
　時々ストリングスがかぶさるのを除けば、きわめてシンプルな楽器構成。それが成功の要因だろう。
　オリジナルの「ベッティナ」も、なんかマイナーな曲調が、日本の昭和演歌歌謡みたいで、キラー・チューンの称号にふさわしい出来。
　オリジナルのライナーはジャズ批評の重鎮、ラルフ・J・グリースンが担当している。

　特に、これから真夏にかけて、大推薦盤です。
　ただ、収録時間が３０分未満と短いので、できれば、他のリーダー･アルバムと２in１で発売してほしかったで〜す。
