2006年発表のBESTを挟んで、2年ぶり6枚目のスタジオアルバム。
ProducerにはRammsteinのアルバムのプロデュースを手掛けている、Jacob Hellner氏を起用。
WikipediaにはHoward Benson氏が関わっているような記事があったが、これは誤報のよう。Creditには名前を見つけられず。

このアルバムは何といってもThree Days GraceのAdam Gontierがボーカルをとる"I Don't Care"が素晴らしい。この1曲のためにアルバム購入しても損はしない。
Max Martin作らしいキャッチーなRockソングに仕上がっている。
ちなみに、Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks チャートで1位を獲得した。

2003年の4th「Reflections」から、チェロがひとり脱退し、Drumsが参加するようになって以降、彼らの音は完全にメタルバンドである。
前作「Apocalyptica」といい、Voを客演で迎えるスタイルが成功している。
次のアルバムが楽しみだ。

　チェロ３人にドラマー１人で構成されているバンド、APOCALYPTICA。クラシック出身のチェロ弾きの若者が、学生時代のMETALLICAのカヴァーをチェロで弾いて大ウケしたことがきっかけで、いつしか世界に轟く史上初チェロメタルバンドになった。これが１９９３年のことだった。

　彼らは過去にMETALLICAのカヴァーばかりを集めたアルバム『PLAYS METALLICA BY FOUR CELLOS』をリリースしていて、これで知っている人もいるのではないだろうか？かく言う私もこの作品からAPOCALYPTICAの存在は知っていたが、このアルバムのタイトル通りチェロ４本のみで演奏されていて、ドラムは無し。パッと聴いた感想は『チェロでこんなのできるんだ〜。器用だな〜。』と思うと同時に企画バンドなんだろう、と自然と忘れていった・・・。

　そして時は流れ、偶然４日前に彼らの新作を試聴する機会に恵まれた。とあるCDショップの試聴機にこの『WORLDS COLLIDE』が設置されていた。
　
　聴いて本当に驚いた。ドラムが入ることでチェロの音はかき消されるのでは？と思っていたが、杞憂に終わった。ギターのように音が歪み、力強く、まさに迫真のメタルサウンドがそこにあった。おそらくパートの分担としてはベース役のチェロ１人、ギター役のチェロが２人といったところか・・・。メタルバンドでは欠かせないピッキングハーモニクスのような音、ベースとドラムのユニゾンなど本当にメタルであり、ロックなのである。
　即購入したのは言うまでもない。家に持ち帰ってじっくり聴いた。聴けば聴くほど染み入ってくる。酒が飲みたい。そんな感じにさせてくれるアルバムだ。

色んなジャンルのメタル・バンドが出てくる恐ろしい国フィンランドの
チェロ・メタラーによる5枚目。

今の今まで色もの扱いしてきてすまんかったｗ

メンバーにチェロしかいないのに、
どーがんばってもクラシックに聞こえない
恐ろしい音楽性は唯一無二。

これはハマる！！
