4.0 out of 5 stars 実は正統派の良質アイドルポップス, 2008/6/12
アキバのオタク感と渋谷のオシャレ感を融合させた”アキシブ系アイドル”を提唱する、女の子２人組、バニラビーンズ。街頭での「ガラス張りトラック生活」といい、「ポストPerfume」という誰もが「早っ！」とツッコミを入れたであろう宣伝文句といい（笑）、売り手の戦略性の高さを感じさせるのは確かである。

しかし、肝心の音楽は、何とも真っ当で洗練されたポップスに仕上がっている。Perfumeのエレクトロポップ路線とは正反対の、オーガニックなソフトロックサウンドが印象的だ。（個人的にも大好き！）

一曲目「ニコラ」は、爽やかな中にもクセのあるメロディが頭の中から離れない。二曲目「ノスタルジー」は、初期ユーミンを連想させる、柔らかなバラード。歌詞も素敵だ。この感じ、例えば…エブリ・リトル・シングやスネオヘアーやくるりが、バニラビーンズに曲を提供したとしても何の違和感もないどころか、十分に想像できる感じ…と言えば分かりやすいだろうか。

カワイイ女の子が良質なポップスを歌う…これこそ、アイドルポップスの王道ではないだろうか。そう考えると、話題性とは裏腹に、バニラビーンズの作品は紛れもなく正統派のアイドルポップスなのだと思う。２人の歌は決して上手い！というわけではないけれど、それもまた正統派、という感じがしてしまう。（すいません！）

ともあれ、ポップス好きな人に幅広く聴いてもらいたい良曲なので、オススメです。今後の作品にも注目していて損はないでしょう！

曲はモロにピチカート。
好きな人は好きでしょう。

ポストPerfumeとしてブレイクできるかですが、この曲調だと若干マニアな路線になりそう・・・。
