5.0 out of 5 stars 待望のオリジナル音源で聴く、渾身の傑作, 2008/3/24
７７年のオリジナル音源が３０年ぶりに再発、８１年版との２ｉｎ１で発売された。８１年版の方が本人の理想に近いと言われてきたこともあり、７７年版は今一つという先入観を持ってしまっていたが、今は「これを聴けて本当に良かった」という感想だ。

もちろん、オリジナルも８１年版も根本的な演奏や歌はほぼ同じで、曲の印象があまり違わないものもあるが、それでも知らない音がふと聴こえたり、逆にあるはずの音がなかったりという小さな発見は随所にあり、当分慣れるまではその辺も楽しめそうだ（８１年版になじんだ者にとっては）。

そんな中、音像の違いが特に際立っているのは「五月雨」と「青空のように」であろう。「五月雨」はあの特徴的なドラムが一切なく、また全体に雨音、水音が被っているため、ひたすら長雨を感じさせる、独特な音世界となっている。ＦＭ（山下達郎氏との新春放談）で初めて聴いた時は物足りなく感じたが、今ではこちらの方がより気に入っている。番組では、オリジナルの方が松尾芭蕉の「五月雨をあつめて早し最上川」の世界観に合っているという本人の話もあったが、そう言われれば、雨続きで勢いを増した川の情景が、聴くたび湧き上がるようだ。

「青空のように」は、従来耳になじんだエコーの深い音でなく、個々の音がはっきりした（見方によっては溶け合わない）ミックスだ。「当時この曲だけ突出させないよう、あえて素材として置いた」という話を雑誌で見たが、確かに完成前の部品のようでもあり、楽曲が気の毒にも思える。やはりこの曲は、これでもかというエコーと音圧で聴いてこそ味があるのでは。

これら以外にも音の違いは多いので、その点も楽しめるが、本作をよく知らない方には、楽曲自体の面白さにもぜひ注目して頂きたい。特にノベルティー路線モノは、歌詞の遊びも盛り沢山だ。また曲ごとに使い分けられた歌唱法や物真似も、存分に楽しんでほしい。

待望の78バージョンのCD化である。これに81バージョンと2イン1での発売である。
ただし収録時間の関係で完璧な2イン1では無いもよう。
だったらいっそのこと2枚組にして、名曲「青空のように」のシングルバージョンや
未発表曲等を入れて欲しかった。
とは言え、コロンビア時代の最高傑作と言っても良い本アルバムのリマスター盤は
本人出演のFMラジオで聞いた限りでも当時聞こえなかった（と思う）音が鮮明に聞こえ、
機材の進化に感謝感激雨霰である。
来年は「TATSUROYAMASHITA FROM NIAGARA」、再来年は休みで
再々来年が「ロンバケ30周年」だそうであるが、ぜひとも再来年には
上記シングルバージョンを含む、「NIAGARA RARE MASTERS（21世紀バージョン）」を
発売して欲しいものだ。

待望の77年盤マスター入りです。エンジニア多羅尾伴内氏のこだわりと当時の録音技術の限界ギリギリまでこだわった作り。そして現代のリマスター技術で逆に生々しいくらいそのこだわりが凄い音圧で迫ってきます。（スピーカーの音量注意！）自分は「名月赤坂マンション」のイントロの尺八の音（これが生々しい）や三味線の弾く音・布谷氏の（アミーゴ連呼）そして「座読書」の上原裕のベードラと大瀧氏のボーカルベース？（ズンズン）が大好きです。77年盤はエコー感なしですが（エコーマシーンが低性能高価格だったらしく使えなかったそうです）そのせいか迫力すら感じさせられました。確か81年ＬＰ盤はエンジニア・吉田保氏でこちらも味わい深いですが、多羅尾伴内氏の「スペクターサウンド」的を堪能するならば今回のAnniversary Editionは既存のナイアガラカレンダーとは別の意味合いが込められた大瀧作品として私の大事な宝物です。
