1stアルバムのChariotは、1曲目を聴いた途端ぐぐっと引き込まれ、それ以来何度も何度も繰り返し聴いています。
それゆえ、この2作目もとても楽しみにしていました。

しかし、この2作目は、自分が期待していたものとは少し方向性が違った作品でした。
1作目のシンプルなアレンジ、詩的な歌詞がなりをひそめ、POP色がかなり強くなっています。
出来が悪いわけではありませんが、個人的には今作で薄くなってしまった上記の特徴が、他のアーティストにはないGavinの魅力だと思っているので、正直残念です。

更にキャッチーなメロディとハードサウンドに成長を遂げた2 ndアルバム。

このアルバムの評価がデビュー作より低いのは、
曲の良さを上手く活かせていないオーバープロデュースが原因。
oasis の駄作と言われる『BE HERE NOW』と似た印象。

ハードサウンドに傾きすぎで、ちょっと聴いただけだと軽い商業的な音楽にさえ聴こえてしまいます。
（実はよく聴いてみるとなかなか面白いサウンドなのですが…。）

しかし、この人は本当に作曲センスのある人。
このアルバムも前作同様かそれ以上に素晴らしいメロディの曲ばかりで、彼の才能に驚かされます。
本当に良質なポップミュージックです。シングルカット出来そうな曲が沢山入ってます。
彼のボーカルからも、アメリカの泥臭い音楽のエッセンスを感じる事が出来ます。
音楽的には、間違いなく『本物』の人なんですよ。

恐らく、この人は音楽以外のセンスが？なのでしょう。
PVもおねえちゃんとイチャイチャするものばかりで、どうも売り出し方を間違えているとしか思えません。
その結果、音楽はいいのに本当に過小評価されすぎですね。個人的に残念でなりません。

このアルバムも純粋に彼の音楽を感じようとすれば、彼の凄さが分かると思います。
オーバープロデュースの奥にある彼の才能を感じるべし。

12. We Belong Together は映画『 Tristan + Isolde (2006) 』提供曲のアルバムバージョン。

　素晴らしいデビュー作から早４年ですか！ちょっと待たせすぎじゃないですか（笑）

　繊細で瑞々しい前作と比較して、｢ちょっとがっかり･･･｣という意見が多いようですが、僕自身の好みからすると、今作の“ちょっとロック寄り”のアプローチの方がしっくりくるなぁ。どこかのインタビューで見たのですが、目標とするアーチストはTom PettyとSam CookにBilly Joelだとか。だとするならば、自身のルーツにより近いのは今作なんじゃないかなぁ。

　確かにGavinらしさは薄まったかも知れないけど、（1）を筆頭に相変わらずいい曲書くし、歌はホントうまいし、言うことないような気がするけど。
