80年代の復活KCのアルバム。全員短髪でキーボード不在のクリムゾンに、かつての"プログレ"を期待したファンからはあまり好意的に受け入れられなかったように記憶している。マスコミのレビューも複合リズムの導入や実験的なギターなどの表面的な技巧が言い訳のように強調されていたが、この混沌とした、それでいて意外にとっつき易いサウンドはまさしく80年代のKCならではのものと言っていいだろう。過去にこだらわず、その時代の音を躊躇すること無く取り入れようとするその姿勢は、真の意味でProgressiveだ。

'80年代キング･クリムゾンの第一作目。
初めて加わった2人のアメリカ人と奇才ロバート･フリップが
どう絡むか非常に注目された作品。結論としては、
今までのファンにとってはイメージが違いすぎたのだと思う。
多くの酷評が飛び交った。しかし、私はそうは思わない。
この作品に始まる3部作はそれ以前の作品に勝るとも劣らない
良さを持っていると思う。
むしろ、今聴いてこそ理解できる音と
言い換えることも出来るかもしれない。
“Matte Kudasai”を除く全ての曲が名作だと思う。

実は、８０年代クリムゾンは、「スリー・オブ・ア・パーフェクト・ペアー」から聴き、これは次に聴いたのかな・・？順序が逆になってしまったが、僕は、この８０年代クリムゾンは、以前と並ぶくらい大好きな時期です。

パコパコ(？)したようなギターのアンサンブルと、シンプルなドラミング。
陽気なヴォーカルと、かなり個性的ですよね・・。

歌詞も今までのように、専門の人物を雇わず、ブリューに書かせているので、大分「幻想クリムゾン」からは、遠のきましたが、それでも、いまだに聴き続けていられるのは、音楽の完成度の高さによるもの！

タイトル・トラックは本当にすごい！
是非ご一聴を。
