オリコンアルバムチャートで4位を記録した前作「THE TWILIGHT VALLEY」から約1年ぶりとなる今作には、GARNET CROW史上初の両A面シングル「風とRAINBOW/この手を伸ばせば」、通算100曲目シングル「涙のイエスタデー」、そして「世界はまわると言うけれど」といったシングル曲4曲をはじめ、ジャンルの壁を飛び越えた個性的な11曲を収録。優しさ、切なさ、感動、感傷、、、誰もが感じたことがあるであろう、様々な感情を独特の世界観で表現した、耳で、心で感じるアルバム!


アーティストについて

2000年3月29日に「Mysterious Eyes」「君の家に着くまでずっと走ってゆく」の2タイトル同時発売でデビュー。全作曲を手掛けるボーカルの中村由利、全作詞とキーボードのAZUKI 七、アレンジとキーボードの古井弘人、ギターの岡本仁志で構成。一貫してハイクオリティなサウンドと包容力のある独特の世界観でリスナーを魅了し続け、これまでに26枚のシングルとベストアルバムを含む6枚のアルバムをリリース。また、独特の音世界を表現したライブにも定評があり、2005年には大阪市の重要文化財である“大阪市中央公会堂”、2007年には世界遺産でもある京都の“仁和寺”での野外ライブを成功させるなど、その活動は常に新しいチャレンジに満ちている。

全体的に切なさと聴きやすさを意識したアルバムだと思います。一曲の中で明るくなったり切なくなったり意外な展開をみせたりして楽しませてくれます。彼らのインディーズアルバムであるfirst kaleidscopeに（このアルバムが発売されたタイミングで）一番近い印象をうけました。彼らは明るい曲も好きなんだと思います。ただその明るい曲をただの明るい曲にしないのがGARNET CROWのGARNET CROWたる所以。逆にダークな曲でもほとんどの場合どこかに明るい部分があると思います。この明るさと暗さの間をいく感じが私は好きです。

異なる特典ＤＶＤが付いた２種類の初 回盤と同時にリリースされた通常盤です。
パッケージは三つ折りデジパック仕様になっています。

シングル曲は４曲で、そのうち「涙のイエスタデー」と「この手を伸ばせば」はアルバムバージョンが収録さています。
収録曲のうち「世界はまわると言うけれど」と「この手を伸ばせば」の２曲が気に入っていますが、アルバム曲では「Love is a Bird」がアルバムの締めにふさわしい感じで良かったです。

2種類のパッケージによるリリースは以前もありましたけど
アーティスティック色の濃い彼らの音楽をこういう形態で販売するメリットってあるんでしょうか？
GIZAっていうか、GARNET CROWの売戦はいつもなにかが食い違っている気がします。
そしてそのアルバムの内容は、びっくりするくらい無難なバラード曲ばかり。
アップテンポな曲はなし、ダーク曲なし、もちろんラテンもなし、と
いままでの彼らから、「インパクト」という文字をごっそり抜き出したように、
可否無く、オーソドックスに仕上げたなあという印象ですね。
だからといって駄作かと言えばそうとも言い切れないのが、さすがガーネットマジック。
でもこれも、タイアップ漬けで振り回された前作「THE TWILIGHT VALLEY」の
事後処理として、彼らの奥底にあるベース（原点）に徹したのではないだろうか、
なんて邪推するに難くないわけですが。

Locks、あなたに見合った鍵を―、というコンセプトのようですが、
穏やかで優しく、でもどこか冒険心が感じられないこの作品の雰囲気から、
わたしは、彼らは自分たちの音楽の一部を、Locked、
封印したのではないだろうか、と思ったりもしました。
