自分はバックアップ用とiTunesライブラリのサーバとして利用していますが、
容量もたっぷりあるし、ワイヤレスでiTunesの膨大なライブラリが
聴けるので、大変重宝しています。

Air Mac Extremeを買ってHDDを付けるなら、こっちを買った方が
よりスマートだと思います。

ワイヤレスでインターネットやファイル管理が出来ることに
魅力を感じるなら、買って損はないです。

無線LANとワイヤレスHDDの機能が１つの機器でまかなうことができるので設置スペースの節約できます。
私が知らないだけかも知れませんし、デザインの好みは人それぞれでしょうけれど、無線LANでデザイン性に優れているものってあまり見かけませんし、この点においては優位性があるのではないでしょうか。
通信速度も応答性も問題ありません。
デスクトップのi MacとラップトップのVAIOで使用しておりますが、Win、Macのどちらでも利用可能なので便利です。
PS3の購入も考えていますが、PS3でダウンロードしたデータもこれに保存できればもっと便利になると思います。が、おそらく実現しないでしょうね。
実現したら1Tモデルでも良かったかな。

　「充分に発達した科学技術は、魔法と見分けが付かない。」とは、アーサー・C・クラークの言葉だが、Time CapsuleとTime Machineによるバックアップの使い心地も、「魔法」のようである。面倒な設定を行う事なく、日々のデータがワイヤレスで着実にバックアップされ、トラブルが起きたときには簡単に復元できる。しかも、Time Machineの印象的なUIにより、データの復元作業自体がある種のエンターテイメント性を有してさえいる。
　Time Capsuleを電源につなげ、AirMacユーティリティーでパスワード等の設定を行うだけで共有ドライブとして使用可能となる。バックアップ専用でネットワークハブとして使用しない設定も容易だった。後は、通常の外付ドライブと同様にTime Machineで使用するドライブとして選択すれば完了である。Appleの遺伝子に脈々と受け継がれている、「The Computer For the Rest of Us」の精神により、最低限のステップで、技術の恩恵を手軽にユーザーのものとする手際の良さには、いつもながら感心させられた。　
　これまでMacBookに外付ドライブを接続してTime Machineを使用していたが、やはり常時ポートを占有する機器があるのは煩わしかった。これからは、より身軽に強力なバックアップ環境を利用できる。
