椿屋四重奏初となるベストアルバム。インディー時代を総まとめしたベスト版という仕様。
これに未発表曲を２曲を加えて全１７曲、トータルタイムは約８０分と
まさにオールタイムベストといっていい感じになった。アルバム未収録のシングルも入っている。

椿屋といってまず最初に思うのは「妖しい」というイメージ。いや、本人達の性格はいたって誠実だと思うが
サウンドや歌詞の志向に於いては非常に攻撃的でシビア、また時折滑らかな部分も垣間見れる
現在の日本のロック・シーンでは際立っている個性を発揮し続けていると思う。
もうイントロ聴いただけで「あ、椿屋っぽい」と思う曲もいくつかある。
こういった「あからさまな作家性」をはっきりと感じ取れるのは貴重だと思う。
　また椿屋は一点に留まるのを良しとしないバンドだと思っていて、作品ごとに違った
アプローチだったり方向性を感じることが多く事実このアルバムでも様々な方向性の楽曲がならんでいる。
これを気に入ったなら異空間的な楽曲性から現実感を取り入れ始めた最新アルバムも聴いてもらえたら更に良いかと。

椿屋はNHK-FMで掛かった「群青」で初めて知ったのだがこの楽曲を聴いたときの衝撃は今でも覚えてる。
ヒリヒリしたサウンドと「和」としか言いようの無い独特のメロディと歌詞の世界、
なにより３分足らずの時間の中で目まぐるしく変わるサウンド構成に痺れた。
このバンドはデビュー時から既に個性と演奏力を確立していたんだな、と。
　そして何よりその軸となる部分は何ひとつ変えずに我を通して来たんだと感じた。
根底の部分を保ったまま進化を続けている感じ。
椿屋のロックというのは完全に日本人にしか鳴らせないロックである。

ちなみに未発表曲の「アシンメトリー」は小気味良いカッティングと曲の展開が気持ちよく
シングルにしても良いくらいキャッチーな楽曲なのでこの曲も是非多くの人に聴いてもらいたい。

椿屋四重奏インディーズ期の15曲と未発表曲2曲を収録。

彼らは、インディーズ時代が長く、
その中での代表曲がほとんど収められてます。
メジャーとなった現在も、ライブで演奏される曲が沢山収録されているので、
《恋わずらい》あたりで、彼らを知って、
これからライブに行きたいっ人にはピッタリなのでは。
ﾒｼﾞｬｰ1stｱﾙﾊﾞﾑの『TOKYO CITY RHAPSODY』と一緒に
椿屋の世界に浸りませんか♪
ｵｽｽﾒです。

正直、最初は今なんでベストなんだろう？と想いました。
でも実際聴いたらそんな杞憂はものの見事にふっとびました。
疾走感と艶、妖しさが心地よく入っています。
幻惑が特にすきなのでそれが入っているのも嬉しい。
椿屋の初期（？）のあらあらしさも垣間見えていいです。
たかがBESTと想うなかれ。
TOKYO　CITY　RHAPSODEY　とききくらべてください。
きっと納得できます。
