２００２年にドイツゲーム賞を受賞したプエルトリコのカードゲーム版です。

プレイヤーが役割を選択し、
手札の建物カードを建てて点数を稼いでいくゲームです。
役割カードには監督、商人、参事会議員、建築家、金鉱掘りの
５種類があってそれぞれできる行動が異なります。

このゲームでは手札がお金を兼ねているので、手札のやりくりが
かなり重要になります。そのため、商品を生み出す生産設備の
建設や、カードを引ける特殊な建物の建築など、計画的な
街づくりが要求されます。

プエルトリコも面白いゲームですが、サンファンにもまた
違った魅力があります。プレイ時間もさほど長くはなく、
空いた時間に気軽に楽しめるゲームです。

名作プエルトリコのカード版ということで買って遊んでみました。
チットやマーカー不要でスペースもあまり要らないので
手軽にどこでも遊べます。
2人用でも楽しくてゲーム時間も30分〜40分で終了します。

建物を誰かが12棟建築した時点で勝利ポイントが高いプレイヤーの勝利です。
定期的に建築資源となる手札を増やす農場類(インテディゴ、砂糖、たばこ、コーヒー、シルバー)を建築しつつ、さまざまな特殊能力を持つ建築物(とても多いです)を
建築するわけですが
有利な建築物は生産コストがかかるので、バランスを見極めつつ
建築していく過程が楽しいです。
また、毎ターンに選択する5種類の役割カードの効果がプレイするたびに
役割を選ぶタイミングが判ってくるので、プレイするごとに
このゲームの奥深さが感じられます。

生産物の相場変動も簡単なシステムで再現しているので
ルールがとてもシンプルで戦略を練る楽しみがあります。

多くのゲームが相手を出し抜いたり、落とし入れたりしながら
競うタイプが多いですが
このゲームは、相手を邪魔したりするカードはないので
そういう要素はまったくなく、自分の農場と建築物を
相手より早く効率よく反映させていくのが主眼なので
親しい人とプレイして気まずくなることもありませんw
