Angl is the second full length solo album of Emperor frontman Ihsahn who is a Norwegian composer, guitar, bass, keyboard player and vocalist. He is best known for his work with Norwegian black metal band Emperor. In his very early releases, he went by the name Ygg.

EMPERORのVo.イーサーン皇太子のソロ2nd.

前作以上にアグレッシブでEMPERORを思わせる楽曲が多く、聴きやすくなっています。
激しさの中にも美しく切ないメロディがふんだんに盛り込まれており、非常に心に残るアルバムだと思います。
イーサーン皇太子のギター、歌唱力はやはり健在、聴く者の心を捉えて離しません。

３曲目の「Unhealer」では、ゲストにオーペスのVo.ミカエル氏が参加、Vo.を取っています。

激しさと美しさを堪能出来る、何度でも聴きたくなる素晴らしいアルバムです！

元EMPERORのイーサーンのソロ作。2008作
前作「Adversary」はプログレッシブな味わいの好作だったが、
今作も彼の美意識とセンスとが存分に発揮された作品となっている。
クラシカルなシンセアレンジで華麗に聴かせつつ、ときに暴虐な突進力もあり、
かつてのシンフォニックブラックメタルのアイデンティティをまざまざと見せつける。
イーサーンのヴォーカルも情念の深みを増していて、前作よりも迫力があり、
ノーマル声で歌う叙情パートなどはOPETHなどを思わせる部分もある。
シンセをバックにテクニカルなギターリフや、メロウなフレーズが交互に顔を出し、
楽曲は緊張感と荘厳な空気に包まれていて、最後まで聴き手を飽きさせない。
かつてのEMPERORファンのみならず、プログレッシブなメタル好きも必聴だ。

好きな作品です。
ただ、前作と違いブラック性を増やした分、エンペラー的なものを期待してしまいました。
もちろん、プログレ的なアプローチも好きなのですが、
冒頭で期待してしまいましたので。

もちろん、前作が好きな人が買えば間違いなしだと思います。
