１９７８年録音。サウンド的には、山本剛トリオ（ｐ、ｂ、ｄｒ）をバックにした、ジャズ・ブルース色の強い作品。ジャケには自身が描く特異でイマジナティブなイラストを封印、半裸の自身のフォトを掲げたことは、シンガーとしての、強い自立心と覚悟を感じさせる。彼女のつむぎ出す物語世界は相変わらずだが、従来の作品と異なり、この作品では、それらのテキストの再現性よりも、ヴォーカルパフォーマンスにウエイトが置かれている。ともあれ、佐井好子という歌手の声の魔力、技術力を知るには格好の作品と言える。しかし・・・それにしても、タイトル曲の「蝶のすむ部屋」、「あの青い空には神様がすんでる」、「白い鳥」あたりに沈む思いは彼女の当時の本音だったのか、彼女はこの後いったん活動を休止するが、これほどまでに、生きていることのもどかしさ、やるせなさを感じさせる楽曲はない。
