タイトル曲である「LIPS」は、“サビでメンバー全員が歌う”というアイドル的制約が少々ネックとなっているように感じる。誰の声が良い・悪いではなく、そもそも多人数で歌う性質の曲では無いと思う。
ただ、その点を大目に見る事さえ出来れば曲自体は良質。ギターソロと絡む中丸のボイパ・田中のラップもなかなかマッチしてるし、メロディ、ベースラインも良い。

タイトル曲以上に良質なのがカップリングの「LOVE」。
こちらはタイトル曲とは逆に、多人数で歌うことの強みが存分に出た１曲だと思う。全体的にムーディーなアレンジになっており、純粋に完成度の高い曲。
特筆すべきはやはり赤西の歌唱力だろうか。ハイトーンもフェイクもビブラートも自在に操る彼の実力を堪能できる。

タイプは違うが、どちらの曲もライブ映えしそう。

PVは疾走感・空気感重視で、今まで見た彼らのPVの中では一番気に入っている。亀梨のあのアイメイクは映像作品の空気を決定するアイテムとして正解だったと思う。
メイキングも色んな意味でおいしいシーンが満点なので（笑）、ファンなら買って損は無いのでは。


今までジャニーズとはおよそ縁のない人生だったけれど、日に日に彼らに嵌っていっている。
グループは勿論のこと、中でも「赤西仁」という才能には色々と期待せずにはいられない。

これまでのシングルよりもハードなロック調ナンバー。
娘に聴かせようと買ったのだが、おやじの方がハマっちゃいました。
僕の世代だと、懐かしの男闘呼組が思い出される。
ＤＶＤもプロモとメイキングが入ってお買い得。
ジャケットも美しく一家に一枚欲しいＣＤでしょう。

いい歌いっぷりだな〜というのが第一印象だった。この曲のもつ「疾走感」とKAT-TUNの相性は抜群だ。この歌が「なんちゃってロック風」にならずに自分達のモノにできているし、口先だけで歌う様なカラオケになってない。この曲を歌うには多少インパクトが弱い声もあったが、それを補うに余りあるボーカリストが居ることで、曲のモチベーションを下げずにロックとして完成させている。聴く側に「言う事を聞かせる」妙な説得力がある。アイドルの枠を超えて、歌で生き残っていけるグループかもしれない。２曲目の「LOVE」は個人的に「LIPS」よりも好きな曲だった。アレンジも素晴らしく、CD店内で流れていたら誰もKAT-TUNの曲とは思わないかもしれないアプローチの曲で、インパクトもありゴージャスな曲だった。赤西君のハイトーンボイスは必聴だ。「LIPS」が「疾走する恋」なら「LOVE」は「ためらいの愛」といった印象が残った。DVDのMVもカッコ良くてよかった。ただ、メイキング映像で田口君が元気がないのが気になった（特技のダンスがMVで発揮できなかったから？なのかもしれない）。
