　どうしても前作と比較してしまう。曲構成にも、歌詞にも特に変化を感じない。だが、何かが決定的に違う。善し悪しではない。この包み込むような優しさは何だ？
　前作は、サンボが自分をひたすらさらけだしていた。「俺がわかるか？俺が受け止められるか？」と叫び続けていた。それに対して今作では、全編に「君のために歌っているのだ」というトーンが満ちている。君の痛みを知りたい。君の悩みを受け止めたい。君と共に生き抜きたい…と。この共感的なトーンが、優しさとなってあふれているのではないか。
　１曲目「光のロック」とラストの「I Love You」が、響きあって同時代への共感を奏でている。

前作「君と僕の全てをロックンロールと呼べ」と比べて、今回はずいぶんとポップです。軽快で、明るい。楽曲のうつくしさが強調されています。いままでで、もっとも聴きやすいアルバムじゃないだろうか。裏返せば、いままでに知られている特徴をあえて抑えているので、賛否両論あるかもしれませんが、自己模倣に陥らないこの新境地は、個人的にすばらしいと思います。
コンセプト・アルバムのように、全十三曲に篭められたテーマは共通しています。悪くいえばどれも似た曲なんだけど、繰りかえし聴きたくなる勢いがある。本気でひとに「生きろ」というメッセージを伝えたい、サンボマスターの気迫と誠実さを感じました。

明日に希望なんかないと呟く、そんなひとりぼっちの少年少女のために作られたアルバム、
という印象。
そのためか垣根を低く、誰でも軽く聴き始められるようになっている。
逆に言えば、うるさいロックは嫌い、サンボマスターは暑苦しい、そんなリスナーのためでもあるかも。

その気持ちに応えて、出会えよ少年少女。
きみはいたほうがいい、と、山口隆は歌う。金八先生や寅さんのような古くさい奴かもしれない。
でも、信じられる大人に出会ってほしい。
ポップななかに、通好みのソウルフルなメロディラインも凝ったリズムも盛り込まれ、
これから人生のお供になる音楽の、質の高いナビゲーターにもなるアルバムだ。
好き嫌いはあれど、大人も何度も聴き返せる良作。

この聴き心地の良さ、聴き応えは、☆５つでもよいのです、が、あえて４つにしました。
前作のようなテンションの作品も、世の中は欲していると、レコード会社に理解して欲しいから。
