ガリレオの弟子トリチェリが17世紀に発明した水銀気圧計の原理を、水に変えて応用したゲーテのバロメーターを元に作成。大気圧の変化による、ガラス管の水位で数時間後の天気の変化を予想する。水位が下がるがると晴れになり、水位が上がると天気が崩れる。（中に入れる水に色を着ける場合は食紅を御使用下さい。）

Product Description

晴雨予報グラスは、科学者として有名なゲーテが発明したといわれる水タイプバロメーターの原理を使用しています。ゲーテのバロメーターは、なしの形をしており、彼の死後、寝室から発見されたといわれています。それより前の１７世紀、ガリレオ・ガリレイの弟子の１人であるトリチェリが、大気圧と真空を発見する過程で水銀気圧を発明しましたが、その原理を水銀から水に変えて応用したのが、ゲーテのバロメーターと考えられています。“地球”をモチーフにした、新しいインテリアのカタチ…繊細なガラスの容器の中から透き通る魅惑の輝き。透明の球体部分には、地球の大陸が細かくデザインされています。繊細なガラスの球体に光が反射して、より一層美しさを演出します。インテリアとしてはもちろん、気圧の変化を読み取り、数時間後の天候を予測する“晴雨予報”としても目安にしていただけます。お好みの色の液体を入れていただいてご使用くださいませ。(液体は付属していません)注意*こちらの商品は飲み物を飲むのには適していません。Ｓｉｚｅ：幅9cm 高さ15cm ※食紅はついておりません。

高さ15cm球形部の直径7cmほどのこじんまりした置物。
地球儀に似せて気圧変化を表すのがなんともいいです。
そうするとやっぱり入れる水は海に例えて青で着色したいもの。
けれど食用色素の｢青｣なんてそう簡単に近所で買えるものではありません。
（着色しなくても問題ないですが、やはり見づらいです）
結局通販で購入しましたが、その点だけが不便でした。

外は晴れているのにやたら管の水位が上昇しているときは、傘を持って外出するようにしています。（夕立の多いこの時期は特に）
ただし使用初日水位が上昇し｢これは!!」と思ったものの、実際は室温が高く球部内の空気が膨張した“見せかけの変化”に騙されてしまいました。
いろいろ経験してみないとわからないものです。

(追記)水位が上昇したあと天気がいいのに｢水位の戻り｣が遅いことがあります。
そんなときは本体を傾けて真ん中くらいまで水位を戻してリセットするといい感じです。
あと意外と中の水が変質しやすく、こまめにとりかえた方がいいです。
ひとたびモヤモヤとカビ（？）が発生してしまうと細い管を通しての洗浄はとても面倒です！

画面で見たよりも実物の方が可愛いですね。
ただ残念なのが着色料が入って無い点と、注水の際に使う細い管…これは正直細過ぎじゃないですか？
水を入れるだけで凄く大変です。

あとは安定性って点では多少「うむぅ」って感じですが、この物自体を置く場所が安定していればさほど問題ないかと思います。
まだ受け皿は敷いてませんので、じっくり受け皿選びでもしたいと思います。

購入後数ヶ月経ちますが天気の簡単な目安として使っています。今の所吹きこぼれた事はありませんが気圧が低くなるとこぼれるのではないかと思うぐらい上がります。
