トビアス・サメットによるメタルオペラプロジェクト、アヴァンタジアの3作目。2008作
カヴァー曲だらけの先行シングルの微妙さから一抹の不安をもって聴いてみる。
やはり内容はかつての「METAL OPERA」のファンタジックな壮麗さとはやや趣が異なり、
落ち着いた大人のアレンジで聴かせるオーセンティックなメタルアルバムになっている。
ただし今回もヴォーカル陣には豪華ゲストが集結。カイ・ハンセン、マイケル・キスクをはじめ、
ヨルン・ランデ、オリバー・ハートマン、ボブ・カトレイ、ロイ・カーン、さらにはアリス・クーパーという
大御所までが加わっていて、各曲ごとに聴ける素晴らしい歌声には文句のつけようがない。
華麗なシンフォニックメタルを求める向きにはやや拍子抜けかもしれないが、
過剰さを排した正統的なメタルサウンドで、トビアス自身の現在の音楽性を提示して見せた
この作りにはかえって好感が持てた。派手ではないが確かな質をともなったメタル作品だ。

実はavantasiaの1,2作目は聴いてないので変化は分かりませんが、
曲は勿論、参加しているボーカリストがとても凄いです。
個人的にはキスクよりもヨルンの方がいい味を出してると感じました。

キスクがジャーマンメタルを歌っています
それだけで満足です

メロパワを押し出したアルバムではない中、helloween系のパワーメタルを
キスクに歌わせるトビアスに感謝です。
