ラジオで初めて「わかって下さい」を聴いた時の衝動は、今でも忘れられない。
重厚なパイプオルガンのイントロ（バッハの「トッカータとフーガ」のイメージが強いせいか、J-POPSで他に使用されているのは、荒井由実の「翳りゆく部屋」や雅夢の「悲しくて」、中島みゆき自身のセルフカバー版「かもめはかもめ」くらいしかないのではないか）。
澄んだ歌声と物寂しい歌詞。　秋田県の炭鉱技師というプロフィールも意外だった。
2ndシングルの「別涙（わかれ）」も奥行き豊かなストリングスの音色とシャンソンそのものの哀感に満ちたもので、この2曲だけで“因幡晃”のパブリックイメージが確立されてしまったと言ってもいいだろう。　（それにしても、このストリングスの音は広いスタジオで「せーの」で一気に録音する特有のもので、Pro-toolなどのDAWで切り貼りする今の録音技術ではむしろ出せない音だと思う。）

「あなたのいない部屋」「夏にありがとう」など女性の立場の歌が目立つが、ブルージーでCoolな「サンデー･モーニング」、弾き語りで過ぎ去った人を回想する「S.Yさん」（意外だが尾崎豊も秘蔵テープに録音していた）、アンサンブルから弾き語りに変わってゆく萩田光雄氏のアレンジが秀逸な「つかまえててよ」、彼の歌の原点と言えるアカペラの民謡「秋田長持歌」など、30年以上前のリリースとはいえ新参者には今なお多くの発見と感動が得られるはずだ。

もう３０年近くなりますが、テープでこのアルバムを聴いたときの衝撃を今でも覚えています。兎に角声が美しい、高音が素晴らしい、歌唱力がすごい。久しぶりに聞いても、やはり因幡晃はすごい。人生で出会ったもっともすごいアーティストだ。
