このGootはアフロヘアに眼鏡が印象的な、ニューヨーク出身のAlex Goot君が2004年、16歳の時に始めたソロ・プロジェクトです。
つまり、Alex君が一人でソングライティングもボーカルもドラムもギターも、キーボードもすべてこなしてるんです！(なんて恐ろしい才能；)

一人でバンドっぽい音楽をやっている、ということで思い浮かぶのはThe Rocket Summerですが、こっちの方がメロディがわかりやすくキャッチー、それでいて少しエモっぽい。
ちょっと鼻にかかったような歌声もすごく良いです。

日本ではこれがデビューアルバムとなりますが、母国アメリカではもうとっくに人気が大爆発しています。
もうすでに3枚のEPをリリース済みで、この「Find Yourself」はその中の2枚のEPからの曲と、新曲を加えた日本限定アルバムとなっています。

この1枚で思う存分Gootの音楽を楽しめます。おすすめはピアノで始まるミドル・テンポのM2、キャッチーに疾走するメロディが最高のM10！
聴いてみれば絶対に好きになりますよ。激プッシュです！

気になっている人も多いかと思うので書きます。
まず、ピアノエモとして完成度はすごく高いし、曲もよいものが多い。それは確かです。

しかし、それ以上の何か。が決定的に欠けている気がします。
他のバンドではなく、Gootでないと聴けないようなサウンド。そういったものがない。
例えるなら、Jack's Mannequinを単純に、さわやかにした感じで、そういったバンドは今溢れるほどいるでしょう。

ただ、まだまだまだまだ若いので、今後化ける可能性は大いにある。そのへんが非常に楽しみなバンド(？)ですね。
