今回リリースされたのは、新しい規格のCDである、「スーパー・ハイ・マテリアル（SHM）CD」版なのですが、そんなことは全く把握せずに購入しました。
本作は、スティング自身、初のフル・デジタルマスターで、約20年前の発表当時からその音質に定評があったものです。
当然、過去にリリースされたものも購入しておりましたので、早速聞き比べてみましたが、結果は歴然の違い。
新盤は音像の定位が素晴らしく、2スピーカーでもまるで5.1chサラウンドのよう。高音の伸びも実にいい。
これがSHMCDへのスウィッチのみで得られたとするなら、正に革命。今後、さまざまなタイトルが再販されると思いますが、これはSHMCDへの買い替えをお勧めします。

このアルバムは、リアルタイムでCDを購入して以来、
このSHM-CD版が２回目になります。

個人的には、捨て曲無しのロック、ジャズ、ブルース、ワールドと
何でもありの静的ミクスチャーの名盤だと思ってます。
かなり好きな作品ですので、最近でもちょくちょく聞いてましたが、
だいぶ傷んできたので、買いなおしてもいいかな？と
消極的な理由で買い換えました。

しかし再生してビックリです。
音の分離が良くなっており、物凄く生々しい音になってます。

感激のあまり、一瞬”SHM-CD買占めしようかな”と思いましたが
元々、音の良いCDとはいえ、約２０年前の作品ですし、
リマスターの効果も大きいでしょうし、
SACDや、DVD-Aでも出来、不出来があったので、
”SHM-CDが素晴らしい”とは、一概に言えませんが

ナッシング・ライク・ザ・サンに関しては買い換え推奨いたします。
