1958年2月7日録音。ブレスティッジ時代の最高傑作、自信に充ち満ちたコルトレーンのテナーが爆発している。

もう最初の『グッド・ベイト』のテナーが鳴った瞬間からノックアウトである。コルトレーンの生涯の愛奏曲たった2『アイ・ウォント・トウ・トー・トーク・アバウト・ユー』あたりで無我茫然自失である。レコード時代から録音がより高度になったと聞いては何度となく買い直している。現在聴いているのは20bitK2 HQCD版のCDだが、音の分離もよろしくノイズも無い。音楽技術の進歩がコルトレーンの骨太なテナーをより一層際立たせて最高である。

あわせてカルテットのバックを固める面々も最高である。ジャズ至高の一枚だと思う。
