前作「町を見下ろす丘」で、地味ながらも新しいエレカシに興奮した。もうエピック時代の再現を求めるのはやめた。

そして届けられたのがこの派手なアルバムだった。

古いファンの私にとって、慣れるのに時間がかかった。そう、「ココロに花を」の時と同じように。

派手で分かりやすい音に隠れて見落としてしまうが、ここでのエレカシはいつものエレカシである。
嘘だと思うなら「FLYER」を聴いてほしい。

この日本で、20年間成熟してきたロックバンドを私は他に知らない。


時間が経って「ココロに花を」は、今では暗黒のエピック時代からの飛翔として、とても力強く私に響く。


この「STARTING OVER」でのやけに派手な音としっかりした唄は、10年後でも私を元気づけてくれるだろう。


時代の音であり、時代を越える唄である。

ユーミンのカヴァー『翳りゆく部屋』。
この1曲を聴くだけでも、今作品を買う価値はあります。
もともとが名曲ですが、宮本さんの熱い歌唱が加わることによって、
さらに魅力が出ていると思います。

どの曲も親しみやすいメロディ。
今まで「エレファントカシマシってクセがあって聴きにくいな」と思っていた方も、すんなり好きになれるアルバムです。
先日までCMで耳にした方もいるであろう、「俺たちの明日」、ユーミンの名曲をカヴァーした「翳りゆく部屋」など充実した曲揃いで、手放すことなどできなくなる名盤です。
