もう何度も見てる。
流石に今見ると古さを感じるけれど、そこがまた良い。
小学生だった頃の風景がそこにあって、見るといつも郷愁に駆られてしまう。

健さんと言えば、ガキの頃の自分にとっては男気のある任侠ヤクザだった。
しかしこの「幸福の黄色いハンカチ」と、
これまた名作と誉れの高い「八甲田山」で印象が変わった。

まだ若い武田鉄也と桃井かおりの演技は初々しく、とても上手いとは言い難いが、
このデコボココンビが出所したてで頑なな高倉健の気持ちを次第にほぐらせ、背中を押す。
果たして倍賞千恵子は黄色のハンカチを掲げてくれているだろうか・・・
分かってはいてもこのシーンはドキドキし、その後の光景ったら、もう・・・。
それにしてもこのジャケット写真はいただけない！
もう多くの人がラストシーンを知ってるからって、
そのまま使わなくってもいいんじゃないか？！

ちょい役ですが、今は亡き渥美清が警察官役で良い〜味出してます。
やはり名役者でありました。

もちろん星５つの作品。
荒削り、ストーリーも考えるとシンプル過ぎるところがる。
ただ日本の、北海道でしかできなかったであろう作品。
春過ぎの北海道の自然をバックに、今の私に男の漢を高倉健が見せてくれている。
生きていくことはほろ苦い。

　この映画の製作当時の高倉健は、７０年代前半の実録やくざ路線に乗れず、「宿無」「ゴルゴ１３」「新幹線大爆破」など、これまでと違う役柄に挑戦していましたが、どれもしっくり来ず、役者としての岐路に立たされていました。この映画への出演が決まった時も多くの人は山田洋次と高倉健？とミスマッチかなと思っていたと思います。しかし予想を裏切る健さんの名演に感動しました。この作品と「八甲田山」の演技で高い評価を得た後、高倉健は名実ともに日本を代表する映画スターになります。
　そして脇を固める武田鉄矢と桃井かおりも負けず劣らずの名演でした。武田鉄矢は歌手として落ち目になっていた頃で、この映画に出演後、多くの助演男優賞を受賞し、その後は役者として安定し、この映画では性欲の固まりだった若者は金八先生になっています。桃井かおりは、この映画の数年前に「前略、おふくろ様」で風俗に勤めていた恐怖の海ちゃんをやった後とは思えない純情娘役を絶妙に演じています。
　話の内容はピート・ハミルの原作を大幅な脚色をして、一種のロード・ムービーになっていて途中で行ったり来たりが少しくどくなりますが、話の膨らませ方も良かった。観終わった後の感動もさわやかです。これでもう少し短くして、最後に「黄色いリボン」の原曲が使えていたら完璧だったと思います。

人間は哀しく醜くみんなもがき苦しむ…。故にこの映画は空しく醜い。空虚。全く何も描けていない。無力。
