タイトル通り、女性アーティストによるニール・ヤングの名曲のカバー作品。曲目リストからわかるように、ニールの７０年代までの代表曲は２ＣＤでほぼ網羅されている（アフター・ザ・ゴールド・ラッシュがない等と言い出すときりがないが）。全曲女性がヴォーカルを担当し、ニールのメロディ・歌詞と斬新なアレンジ（といっても原曲のイメージを破壊するような過激なものはない）が絶妙な化学変化をおこしてアルバムを通して不思議な統一感をもった独特の世界を作り上げている。ニール・トリビュート作品の中でも際立った出来。２１世紀にしっかりとニールの曲が受容される様を耳にするのは嬉しい限りだ。その女性アーティストは上のジャケットのイメージを拡大すると登場順に紹介されているので、関心ある人は目で確認して下さい。

「ヘルプレス」のような元々スローな、女性ヴォーカル向きの曲だけでなく、ニールのハードなエレクトリック・ロック路線の代表曲も多くカバーされているのに注目すべきだ。「オハイオ」は２アーティストが採り上げているが、原曲に近いエレキ・ギターを強調したアレンジと、アコースティック・サウンドで途中に「自由の値」を挟むアレンジの両方を楽しめる。「パウダー・フィンガー」は意表をつくスローなアコースティック・サウンドに作り変えられていて、適度にけだるいムードが心地よい。アレンジの面白さはこれらの曲に限らず、何れの曲についても秀逸。ずばり傑作。

なお、本作のタイトルにも表れているが、ジャケット内側の文章を読むと、本作の収益はすべて乳癌の女性のための慈善団体に寄付されるそうだ。本作は、ライヴ８等の活動に積極的なニールの曲に敬意をこめて作られた、女性による女性のための作品と言えるだろう。

女性の歌うニール・ヤング。 なんとなく興味本位で買ったのですがあまりにも素晴らし過ぎて驚愕しました。 もう収録されたすべてのカバーがこの上なく凄いんです。安易に「カバーしました」って曲は1つもありません。すべての曲が涙が零れそうな程、この上なく力強く美しいのです。 ニール自体の曲の素晴らしさと言うこともありますが、女性が歌うとここまで凄くなるのかと、改めて女性の偉大さを思い知らされました。 よかったらぜひ一度聴いてみてください。 こんなに素晴らしいCDなんて中々ありませんよ。 あなたとあなたの大切な人たちのこれからの人生を、このCDが素敵に彩ってくれると思います。 今、病気と闘かっている、誰かの大切な誰かの為に、ニール・ヤングの曲に出会えたお陰で通じ合えた自分達が、CDの購入という形で、言葉も国も越えて協力が出来るのは素晴らしい事ですね。 今回このCDに出会って、音楽の力と素晴らしさを改めて実感しました。

　ニールヤングの曲があって初めて成立するＣＤなので楽曲の素晴らしさを再確認できたのは嬉しい。でも歌っている女性達の声が何故かどれも同じに聴こえてきて後半は飽きてしまった。他のレビュワーさんのように驚愕することは全く無かったし、アレンジに凝ったとしてもニールヤングのオリジナルに勝る訳も無いので傑作とは言えないだろう。落ち着いた雰囲気の中でゆっくりと聴くには最適ですけれどね。まぁヒットなんていうのはこれっぽっちも期待していないでしょうから聴いた方々は純粋に好運だと思います。企画は素晴らしいと思います。
