待ちに待ったLynch.待望の新作という事で期待に胸を躍らせながら聴いた。
全体の印象としては前作「THE AVOIDED SUN」より一層へヴィネスを指向しているという印象。
ボーカルの葉月がインタビューで
様々なジャンルの要素を詰め込んで結果として何をやりたいのかわからない（最近のV系にはこういうバンドが本当に多い）
ようなバンドにはなりたくないという発言からもこういった流れは自然とも言えるかもしれない。

ただ矛盾と空やanemoneといった曲に象徴されるような非常に良質なメロを持ち合わせている側面が
lynchの持ち味だと個人的に考えている自分としてはメロの比重が以前と比べて若干軽くなったのは残念。

またサウンドプロダクションの面で気になるのは前作と比べてギターの音作りが
前作より進化しているどころか若干悪くなっているとしか思えない所。
alien tuneやpulseのようなへヴィチューンだと芯の無さが顕著に目立つ。
ドラムは職人気質で丁寧なプレイだが今作のようなへヴィチューンが多いと若干楽曲に合っていないと感じる面もある。
率直に言えば個人的に前作AVOIDED〜のほうがバリエーション豊かで曲の粒が揃っており個人的には気に入っている。

色々とマイナス点を挙げてしまったけれどもそれはlynch.だからこそ高いハードルを求めてしまうわけで、
インディーズのV系作品としてレベルの高い作品である事は間違いない。
現在シーンでより人気のあるVバンドと比較しても音楽的に何ら遜色ないどころか、
より良質だと感じる面も多く現在の知名度を考慮するともっと評価されて然るべきバンドだと感じる。

アイドル的な側面が強いV系では音楽的な質がそのまま人気に直結するわけではないので仕方が無いかもしれないが・・・
lynch.にはこれからも我が道を突き進んでいってほしい。
そしてニューメタルやメロデスといった主に海外のジャンルが好きなリスナーにもV系という偏見を持たずに聴いてほしい。
良い物は良いのだから。

彼らの1stアルバム『greedy dead souls』
加えて1stMAXI『underneath the skin』
が合わせて聞ける優れモノがリリース。

今までのアルバムを持っている人にとっては
再録･･･といった感もあるかもしれない。
しかし、かかし、『underneath the skin』原盤は正直
楽に手に入るものとは思いにくい。
（2007現在では1stアルバムも完了品。）

需要と供給が全く合っていないCDだったため
高価品にまでなってしまった。

１ファンとして知らない曲、持っていないアイテム
がある事は余りにも痛ましい・・・。

と、そんな時。

さすがにオークションで、との覚悟を
したためていた際の本作だったので
飛び上がるほど嬉しい！！！！

曲ごとの重量感ＵＰもさることながら
個人的には本作ラストナンバーである
「above the skin」の再録には非常に感動。
彼らの2ndアルバムである「THE AVOIDED SUN」収録の
「From the End」のアンサーソング相まって
言葉には尽くせない。

ああ、好きだ！！

disk2のライブダイジェストには現場を
見た人間としてヘドバンで首を痛めた
懐かしい記憶さえ思い起こさせる。

それでも、ああ、好きだ！！！

一つだけ、あえて一つだけ言うのであれば
早く、早くベースが加入しないものだろうか（笑）

初めてlynchを聴いたのはこのアルバム。とは言え、過去音源をリレコーディングされたもので新曲のアルバムではない。
だが、これを聴いた後の感想だが実にアグレッシブでメロディアス。vocal葉月の歌唱力も高く、実にレベル高いシンガーだなと。
類似したアーティストとしてデスゲイズやギルガメッシュなどが好きな方はツボに入りそうです。
一曲一曲ダラダラと長くなくコンパクトに収められた復活の10曲。是非ラウド好きに聴かせたい一枚です。
