5.0 out of 5 stars 水爆大怪獣対暴龍対防衛隊, 2008/4/15
「ゴジラ('54)」、「キングコング対ゴジラ」、「モスラ対ゴジラ」と、シリーズ初期の凶暴なゴジラが登場する作品は非常に評価が高いのですが、そんな中で低く評価されているのがゴジラシリーズ第2作目であるこの作品。あまりにも完成度の高すぎた第1作目に比べて劣っているストーリー、一般的にメインとされているゴジラとアンギラスの激闘が映画中盤で終わってしまう等、色々な人が不満に考えている事には確かに私も一理あります。しかし、個人的にはこの作品はゴジラシリーズの中でもかなり好きな作品です。以前私が書いたレビューの中で「ゴジラ('54)はゴジラシリーズ最高傑作」と記しましたが、それはあくまで反核のテーマ、水爆の化身としてのゴジラの存在意義等を総合的に評価したものであり、娯楽性の高さならばこちらの方が上だと思います。またこれも個人的な考えなのですが、この作品のメインは「怪獣同士の対決」よりも「初代ゴジラを葬ったオキシジェンデストロイヤーを失った人類がどのようにしてゴジラと対峙するのか」ということだと思うので、その点ではゴジラとアンギラスの対決を中盤で終わらせ、防衛隊のゴジラ殲滅作戦をクライマックスに持ってきたのは正解だったのではないかと思います。またこのゴジラ殲滅作戦における氷山への爆撃が、セットではなくまるで本物の氷山を爆破しているのではないかと疑う程リアルであり、伊福部昭と並んで昭和ゴジラの音楽を支えた佐藤勝のBGMと相まって非常に盛り上がります。他にも、操演によって表現されたゴジラを追って編隊を組んで飛行する航空隊やゴジラに対峙する人々のドラマ、大阪城をバックに互いの隙を伺うように立ち回るゴジラとアンギラスなど、見所も色々とあります。二大怪獣の死闘は水爆の愚かさであり恐怖なのです。

「ゴジラ」の大ヒットを受け、第一作から約半年でスピード公開された第二作。
第一作のテーマでもあった反核・反戦のメッセージ性は薄れ、ゴジラ対アンギラスの怪獣対決、ゴジラ撃退作戦に重点を置いた描写がなされています。

あっさりとした二匹目のゴジラの登場シーン・第一作の映像を流用したゴジラ災害記録フィルム（そのため記録フィルムでは有り得ないアングルや撮影者の安否が気遣われるショットが盛り沢山）
アンギラスの途中退場など突っ込み所も沢山ありますが、灯火管制の敷かれた夜の大阪で繰り広げられる二大怪獣の激闘は
後の怪獣プロレスとは一味違い、後ろを取り合い喉笛を狙い合うという野性的なものになっています。

DVDには特典としてピクトリアルスケッチ、スチール集、スナップ集合わせてなんと1700枚以上を収録。劇場予告やメイキング映像の類はついていませんがボリューム満点です。

大迫力の特撮シーンは圧巻です!本編もしっかりしている東宝特撮映画の中でも名作の、ひとつです!
