1960年代後半、突如、登場したハッピーエンド。そしてティンパンアレー。明らかにフォークともロックとも違い、そのサウンドに妙なカルチュアショックを受けたのを覚えている。音楽的に未熟だった僕はそのサウンドの正体が何なのかが理解できなかった。しかし、それは耳に残り、その音跡が確かに僕の脳に刻まれていた。大橋トリオのサウンドを耳にしてそれは蘇った。遠くに汽笛を聞いたような感じ。空耳かも知れない。そんな心地よい懐かしさが僕の官能を刺激した。なんてモダンなんだ。今ならなぜ大橋サウンドがモダンなのかを理解できる。いろんな音楽を聴いてきたからだ。少年のような大人の音楽という表現が一番わかり易いと思う。

ラジオで聞いた曲「BAUMKUCHEN」が忘れられず、購入しました。
私はジャンルや技巧的なことはよくわかりません。
ただ深く優しく響く声、どこか懐かしいコトバたちに包まれて
穏やかな気持ちになります。
屋根裏で見つけた、黄ばんだ日記のような、宝箱ような。
遠い日の雨のにおいをふと思い出した時のような。
そんな、気持ちがちょっと振れる感じの曲で溢れています。
こんなに気に入った1枚はありません。
喫茶店でゆっくり本を読むのにも、イイかもしれませんね。
エンドレスでかけ続けています。

ゆったりとした曲調、無駄のない音使いにソフトな歌声が合わさって、とても贅沢な気分にさせてくれる一枚です。
いわゆるヒットチャートを賑わすようなタイプのユニットではありませんが、こういう落ち着いた音楽を聴くとホッとします。

洗練された音楽技巧で耳を楽しませてくれる一方、歌詞がやや凡庸なのが気になりましたが、
こういった音楽では歌詞はあまり前に出ないほうがかえっていいのかもしれませんね。
